From Gator Country
SHAKING UP THE STAFF AT LSU: Gary Crowton is out as offensive coordinator and former Louisville head coach Steve Kragthorpe will be his replacement according to a very good friend who covers LSU on a daily basis. Crowton is going to the Chicago Bears, either as quarterbacks coach or offensive coordinator. He followed a familiar pattern that he’s established in his coaching career at LSU --- a great first year, a very average second year and a below average third year. Kragthorpe was thought of as an offensive guru even before his Tulsa teams lit it up. He is expected to implement some sort of a spread that will take advantage of the talents of freshman Russell Sheppard, who had to be the most under-used freshman in the country this year. It’s interesting that Billy Gonzales won’t get the job. There was a lot of speculation that he was leaving UF for LSU to become offensive coordinator if something happened to Crowton.

Kragthorpe is here in Tulsa. I think he wants this job again.

I still don't think the Crowton issue is dead yet. I think he's looking for another job and Les is holding off the "let go" speech similar to that of the CO DC era.

Yeah, it could just be wishful thinking on my part too.

Out right firing someone just isn't Les' style. IMO.

i just think that whether he stays or goes they would be reporting things the same way. not saying anything until its official. give the guy a chance to get his shite in order then make the announcment.

please, please, please let me be right.

there comes a point though where we have to move on. as it gets deeper and deeper into recruiting season we need to have this shite done one way or the other. i feel sorry for the guy that he hasn't found a job, but millions of other people are in far far worse situations. i want to at least finish this class strong, and the longer this drags on the harder that will be.
