History repeating itself? Cholly Mac. loved by his players, great coach, Great teams, only knock, couldnt beat the bear. LSU would have Many more championships if bama wasnt so dominant back then. Coming in second to Bama yr after yr. Saban, well, win at all cost baby, screw the rules, sounds familiar. Hope this isnt the case for the future.

I didn't realize Saban was a drunk.

Don't annoint Saban as anything just yet. He rarely stays in one place long enough to get to that level.

you're asking for it. even if you like miles, but feel he just can't quite measure up to nick as a "FOOTBALL COACH", you are in for untold calumny and loathing for daring to suggest that miles isn't the be all and end all in college coaching.
what you are saying, quite simply, is what many of us are afraid is the truth. Good guy, good coach, but lesser than his competitors. We can expect to continue to field good teams but not great teams.
O! if only Ryan Perilloux had behaved himself. Mayhaps we avoid this awful fate!
what i'm hoping for most is not improvement, but that Florida and Alabama get coaching changes.

Saban needs to win a lot more to be = Bear. Miles is 1-2 vs Saban. Mac was 2-14 vs Bryant.
Not really even a close comparison.

That argument goes both ways when you throw in the Sabanistas who refused to give Miles credit for anything he's done at LSU. When even after a National title and two other top 3 finishes you have people saying they "knew all they needed to know" after the 2005 Tennessee game and "recruiting is falling behind Saban" all because of a #2 NATIONALLY RANKED class behind a #1 class, the dumbarse tug of war goes both ways.

we outplayed Bama just a few weeks ago, only a few freak injuries and a terrible call kept us from winning that game, how quickly you people forget.

The point hasn't been proven yet. If (and I hate if's) the all time leading scorer for LSU doesn't gag on a chipshot fg last yr we probably beat sabama. LSU outplayed and Miles outcoached saban last year but as we saw in this years game...things don't always go your way. Both coaches have their strengths and weaknesses. We should be in for quite a ride for the forseeable future.

I'm pretty sure they outgained us by 200 yards and won the game. I'm not quite as sure as to how we outplayed them, though.

what was it before the injuries to jj, cs, and pp?
take mcelroy, mcclain and julio out at the same juncture and we end up outgaining them by 200.

his point is not comparing the records, but that miles will always be second to saban.

don't think he is, he doesn't have time, he loves lil debbies. i ownder if all those lil debbies have all of their teeth? also, many of those lil debbies are into drugs and are probably alcoholics themselves.
otherwise, the Bear loved football and booze; lil bear loves himself and being sucked on by the red elephants.

Then he should just say that because the literal comparisons make it difficult to even dignify a legitimate response.

LSU starts the third quarter winning the football game 10-3.
Alabama takes their first drive and scores. LSU then gets it back and starts to move the ball and then takes an intentional grounding call where Jefferson also tweaks his ankle and must leave the game. Of course Lee sucks as we all know and he can't come in an get us out of a horrible 2nd and long(not that I would really expect anyone to in that situation).
The next drive basically all by himself Chuck takes control of the offense and leads the team on a TD drive where he gets injured after a huge pick up. Chuck is now out of the game along with Jefferson.
Alabama gets the ball back and drives, but our defense holds them to a field goal. We are up 15-13. The horrible thing is Peterson has begun to cramp. Even though he is probably one of the best athletes in the SEC it can happen to anyone.
Now with our two keys to our offense out we completely fall apart. I wouldn't expect much better form any team against an elite defense. They go 3 and out on the next drive.
Since the defense is quickly back on the field Peterson is still having cramps. Julio takes a stupid 73 yard pass to the flats to the house. Peterson was making Julio his bitch the whole game so I highly doubt he would have pulled that shite on PP.
LSU continues to go 3 and out due to the loss of Chuck, Jefferson, and a strong Bama defense. This kills the LSU defense as they have no time to rest and have to stop Ingram and Richardson. They only give up another field goal.
So basically LSU was slightly outplaying Bama until the injuries. Bama racked up 169 yards to our 9 after the injuries. They also scored an easy TD with our best defensive player off the field hurt.
We also had several other injuries and definitely didn't get any calls(that is expected when playing Bama though).
Bama won the game, but Miles did not get out coached in the game. Also with the way the last three match ups have gone you can't say either was severely out coaching the other.

I lived through that era. Didnt miss a home game from 65' through 80'. LSU had a lot of 1 & 2 loss seasons. Top ten finishes. There was one team that stood in our way to greatness and it was Alabama. Coaches of that era had longevity with their schools and the teams mirrored their coach. LSU was tough and Mac always gave Bear a good game. The scores were always close. In the end, whether it was coaching, reputation, officiating, cheating, promotion, recruiting, whatever, Bama always came out on top.
Today, I see the same thing brewing. Saban is God and can do no wrong. Bama skirts the rules and hardly a thing is done. Reputation creates bias and media creates reputation, deserved or not.
I see cholly mac as one of the best coaches LSU ever had. Coaching is not just wins and losses. He molded young men. I feel Miles is of the same Character as Mac and am proud that he is our coach. When men honor their coach yrs after their playing days are over, that is a successful coach.
Bama, bear, and Saban, While successful on the field, doesnt to me have the same integreity and spirit that those LSU teams had.
Whether history repeats itself or not, I am proud of the way Miles has handled himself, this team, and the controversies. He has always put Team, Players, school, and coaches ahead of himself in all his decesions.
