Let's just hope that he will recover quickly now that they are taking the rods out of his shin. He should be ready in 6-8 weeks, but it may take some more time.

No lets just hope Bradley will play him more than a late minute sub. Bradley really must start playing his best players for the most amount of minutes.

So if we play Jones/Bradley at CM, who plays on the wing? And who is likely to move forward opposite Jozy?

i think it has to be dempsey moving forward. its the only logical move to make

you have landon on one wing, and i guess holden on the other

i really wish torres could play a tight outside mid, he looked so good in the game against the ticos

Bradley will use him as a starter if he is healthy and has gotten some matches with the team. Jones wasn't even aware of the rule change until Michael Bradley approached him at his father's request.

Before the injury to Davies, defensive midfield was the team's main glaring weakness. Clark is a good defender but has no offensive game. Feilhaber isn't great for 90 minutes and can't really defend. And Torres is tiny and not a defensive midfielder, so none of the options were particularly appealing.

Shameless plug.

Has everyone signed on the Dear Chicken help board thread? Get us a World Cup Board!

I already have daily ideas for the buildup and the tournament itself. I helped a Web site put together a microsite for the 2006 World Cup and would love to do some of the same stuff again.

:endhijack:

Jermaine is going to need serious playing time, and it's unclear yet if he'll be back before the Bundesliga hits the winter break.

While I do feel he is the answer to a lot of problems in the holding role (and be especially helpful tracking back is Onyewu and DeMerit still ain't right), I worry about his match fitness.

I hadn't seen him play much but he did play very well, won a few balls and distributed the ball well. He seemed to do fairly well when he ended up on the wing, but I don't know if he has enough speed to live out there. I'd like to see Dempsey move forward also and I like Torres' creativity on the pitch. Is there a spot for him though.

I think that DeMerit and Jones will be getting back right around the Christmas break, so while they will miss out on the Denmark friendly, they will have plenty of time to be prepared before the middle of June.

They may even be a little fresher since they have less tread on the tires from the first half of the season. At least I hope so.

Onyewu's situation is a little confusing. I wonder if he will go on loan to MLS or if he will just sit on the bench after mid-February.

it took them for goddamn ever to approve the switch...now we just have to count on bob to put the most talented players on the pitch

which means expect to see alot of jermaine jones sitting on the sidelines until the 85th minute

i love that the US is finally to the point that there are more good players on the team than spots on the field

My thoughts exactly. We are moving into uncharted territory here.

certainly a nice problem to have, although we are still super weak up front excluding jozy. moving clint up is the right choice, but id kill for more depth at striker, and if i was bob, id be giving torres a lot of minutes at every midfield spot on the pitch to see if he could play any of them, cause he is a guy that has to much talent and is way to creative to not be on the field.

and i kind of hate to say this, cause he hasnt been really effective on the national level, but i think Adu needs to see more time on the field at the same time as torres and jozy...and even edu when he gets back. the four of those guys together just have so much potential.

man, if we could get healthy and bob learns how to coach i think we would have a damn good team
