As a Tiger fan well behind enemy lines in GA, I have been bombarded with crying regarding the celebration penalty. But here is my argument. Georgia was the benefactor of the exact same call. They then cry that there was only 46 seconds left when LSU was penalized. I then bring it to there attention that it only took LSU 23 seconds to score after UGA's kick from the 15. I'm no Math teacher (OK actually I am), I tell them that UGA should have been able to score twice in that amount of time. I then smell smoke as there brains short circuit trying to find another reason for their loss. Geaux Tigers.

Yea, bad call.

Running an INT out the end zone was a bad call.

It may have been a bad call, but we still had a 40 yard KO return and 30+ yard run from scrimmage. So we got 70 yards in about 15 seconds. It makes the 15 yard penalty pretty insignificant. If we win on a 45 yard field goal, then they'd have a point.

Actually, you should tell them that if LSU had fifteen extra yards to cover we would have eaten more clock, and UGA wouldn't have even gotten 46 seconds.

Thanks Doc, I'll add that to my argument.

This is correct. TH caught the KO around the 15 yard line. They should have stopped him. It isn't like the penalty gave us the ball at the UGA 37 yard line. We got a 40 yard KO return and then a 5 yard penalty for illegal formation (which was a good call).

Uh you can tell them LSU and UGA played on the same field that day. With the same officials.

If they don't like it... Call Mike Slive.

Personally I'm tired of hearing LSU benefited from a bad call....that's cry baby bullshite.

Just go ahead throw in the horrible fumble call on RS that wasn't reviewed and ended up resulting in the 4th down stop. Maybe that will shut them up a little....probably not.

Equal penalties and equal opportunities for both teams at end of the game....

Just tell 'em that Scott's 39 yd td run would still have been a td from 99 yards. He was beyond the secondary and would have scored no matter where the line of scrimmage was, and certainly from 15 yards farther out.

tell them that charles scott could have easily had 15 more yards if the endzone wasn't there. he could have had 80 yards if they claim that they would have had a touchback on the kickoff

One could argue Miles wouldn't have called that play from 15 yds further out, or UGA would have changed their D, but still they probably would have gotten in FG range, anyway. And LSU also got a 15-yd penalty. LSU won fair and square.

Did UGA fans not see the safety, int grounding that benefitted them? What am I asking?...OF COURSE THEY DIDN'T!

You mean the incompletion the refs called correctly?

Miles didn't call the play and neither did Crowton. Jefferson got on the phone with Crowton and changed the play from a play-action to LaFell into Scott's run.

But he definitely would not have done this if we were 15 yards out of field goal range.

We may have benefited, but it's not as if that call was decisive. It was Trindon and Chucky that put the dogs down.

Besides with UGA fans you'll get either get a bunch of holier than thou smack-talking if they win or a bunch of whining about some perceived injustice if they lose. ...Let them whine.

It was close, but a correct call. What I can't understand is why they did not review the Shepard fumble even when Richt called time-out for that explicit purpose

Call was correct. Its just not called often or consistent. I would rather it not be called for minor infractions.

Still, LSU most likely would have won. THe end zone was all that stopped Charles Scott. What killed UGA was Trindons K.O. return, not the penalty.

So, UGA fans should blame their defense and special teams. Not the call. It technically was correct and after the kickoff return, mattered little

Same call against LSU a mere 30 seconds later. It evened out. Talk to me about the safety taken away from LSU.

The officials sucked.
