If you looked around the stadium as the fourth quarter ticked away, you could see thousands of empty seats throughout the stadium. These empty seats were not in the student section, they were in the other sections. The major justification of taking seats away from the student section is that students did not show up or stay for the whole game, making us look bad on tv with empty sections. Please justify that now:

Or you could just admit that it was for money/donation purposes. Because the size of the student section is going to shrink because TAF loves their money.

The students are the reason that TAF is allowed to exist. Many freshmen can't even get tickets. TAF only has the right to exist because of the students that go to LSU. Let them have their dang tickets. If you keep shrinking the student section, the atmosphere is going to suffer at Tiger Stadium. A lot of people think it already has.

I agree. This was my first game not in the student section in 5 seasons and I did not enjoy myself one bit. I stood up for the first 10 minutes of the game and was yelled at to sit down by some old fart. My fiancé and I were the only ones in our section (420) doing cheers or screaming on 3rd downs. There was one man screaming but of course he was cursing every decision Les made. I say give more tickets to the students. I thought that when I was a student and I still think it would be better now even after I have graduated. The atmosphere is not the same and may never be again. Geaux Tigers!!

Students have nothing to complain about. They pay a cheap price for a football season ticket and only show if the team is winning. Heck, students get into basketball games for free yet there is hardly anyone that shows up.

Maybe LSU should just raise the price of student tickets to be the same as other ticket holders in that same endzone. Sounds like a plan to me.

Do you honestly believe that? I'm sure it had nothing to do with increasing revenue and everything to do with looking bad on TV.

Wow. The allegations you guys pull out of your asses are remarkable.

I am all for every student having the opportunity to get a student ticket to every game. It's their school. But wow. Really? You believe that bullshite?

Isn't that empty part of the north upper endzone part of the student section?

The students pay a cheaper price, but even they have tripled in price. My son started LSU in 2003 and paid about $40 for his tickets (and he had season tickets, not half a season), got a real ticket and by the time he graduated, he was paying triple and having to print his ticket off of the computer.

So has TAF and the college screwed the students, yes they have. I have sat in the stadium club and have my own season tickets in the south end zone and I'll tell you, I will sit in the south end zone any day!! Most of the stadium club never watches the game and look at you like you are disturbing their conversation when you yell and cheer. Thus, this is the type of fans they are putting in those seats they have taken away from the students.

Good idea give more tickets to the students, also lets get rid of the stadium expansion and improvements we had in the last few years. Oh maybe we can count on the students to donate several thousand a year. Hope you are just a freshman or at least not in business school because you sure are clueless.

No student section ends at the band. That empty section your talking about is the general public.

So they changed it from last year? Last year the consensus on here was that was part of the student section. I think it was said that it is for med students and law students but not completely sure. Empty just like it has been in previous years.

So i'm a a sophmore at LSU now, EE BABY! And a passionate LSU fan. Last year, I heard the unfortunate news that LSU freshmen would not have a chance on God's green Earth at a set of season tickets, but rather, had to enter a raffle for a chance to buy a half a season package. I'm pretty sure you'll all agree that's a little disappointing for a youngster pumped about joining the student section and becoming part of the immortal legacy that is, the loudest part of Tiger Stadium by far. Fortunately for me, my name was drawn in the raffle and i got my half a season ticket package, but wow, was it bitter sweet. My sister before me had full season tickets, my brother as well, my father, uncle, aunt, etc. Now i realize that a vast majority of alumni, through TAF donations have created the stadium as it is today, but that's just it, isn't it? The alumni that were able to go to every single home game at TS for a full four years are putting back in to the stadium what they got out.

When roughly only 50% of students of the flagship university of Louisiana are allowed to basque in the glory that is a pumped up Death Valley on a Saturday night, then i see a big loss in future donations to TAF. Is the outlook for the future fo Tiger Athletics? or is TAF merely looking at the here and now, and how much money they can get in the moment? And in all honesty, is it worth it to everyone to watch a Tiger Stadium be quiet and helf empty(watch the 50 yard line seats closer) because pompous d-bags have money falling out of there eyes and the university is saying, "give, give, give?" I don't think so. I dream of the Tiger Stadium that my dad reminisces about frequently, and my Uncle can't stop talking about every Saturday. Why not open up the availability of seats to every student? If they dont buy all of them, then sure, open them up to season ticket holders, and then the public. One day TAF will see what screwing young tigers in the pooch will get them. One day.

P.S. As much as i can't stand TAF, i'm certain i'll be letting them suck me dry in a few years, just like everyone else, except i'll stay for the whole damn game, and you can have me escorted out everytime if you think im not gonna stand up and yell for my Tigers.

Did you actually attend LSU?

I just can't imagine alumni actually being against giving all students an opportunity at affordable tickets. Everyone is suppose to go through that period of their life of being a student in the student section.

Did former students in the past always get tickets? If they did this is a stupid argument and they should have the choice to purchase them.

Without that evil money from the TAF, LSU would not have the top-shelf facilities that lure elite athletes to it's campus. Without those elite athletes LSU would not field quality teams. Without a quality team LSU would not win many football games. If LSU did not win many football games you could sit whereever you wanted in the stadium at a very resonable price.

I would err on the side of keeping it the way it is.

Cant stand TAF, do you not realize without TAF where we would be, the university itself would not have the money it takes to do what is necessary in the way of improvements. No improvements means poor recruiting which means a poor team which will pretty much bring us back to the Dinardo years. You just some spoiled kid that think that you are entitled to everything you want. Time to grow up and get into the real world dude.

Exactly why can they not allow all students to purchase affordable tickets?

With out a university there would be no Tiger football.

Wow, my love for my fellow Tiger fans shrinks every year it seems. So, say you are attending LSU, you dont think you are just slightly more entitled to tickets then some joe that's on the bandwagon? I don't want TAF to die in a fire or anything, I just want students to all have a chance to get tickets, just like all alumni used to have. One day I'll pay my dues to LSU(not like tuition counts for anything) and TAF and be happy to get my seats, but LSU students ARE THE SCHOOL RETARDS. If they don't all deserve a chance at tickets before you, then you're just selfish people who care for nothing but what they want, gimme gimme gimme. Look if you have kids you bring to games fair enough, bring em home when they're tired and cold, but for all you corporate sponsor douche bags who get handed tickets by the boss and go for the social hour, thank you, thank you for contributing to taking away tickets from students who have grown up there whole life waiting for a chance to get into Tiger Stadium and cheer for there Tigers in the student section, because guess. Being a student, whether you like it or not, makes it more my team then yours. How you like dem apples?
