Just got married up here in NC. My parents still live in BR and I come back often. But just thought I'd share the groom's cake I had made and the quilt that my mom made for me. She's pretty fantastic. She also made a stained glass LSU w/ tiger for the front door of our house in BR.

Groom's Cake (made by Ambrosia in Fuquay Varina, NC)

The entire quilt laid out

Closer up of the LSU

Look close, you can see the LSU and footballs sewn throughout

The back of the quilt.

If any of you have daughters/wives that sew and are looking for patterns for dresses for your girls to wear, she sells the plates on the internet: Cross Eyed Cricket Smocking

Here's a picture of the Stain Glass from inside

And here's a closer one. It looks pretty cool at night from the road. My Dad made the door to house the stained glass and Mom puts different pieces in. It's been LSU since the CWS!

How much do you think you'll wind up pulling from eBay for the quilt?

Haha. No we wouldn't sell it. Besides, she printed a picture of us on fabric in the corner and sewed it in there. Didn't post because I have seen the carnage on the Fark board.

I think I've seen those. They look pretty damn tough to make, but you are right they are pretty incredible.

Carnage!?! That's crazy talk.....

I, for one, wouldn't dream of shredding such an awesome quilt. The groom's cake, on the other hand, wouldn't last 2 seconds if I had it in my sights!

Congratulations.

My Dad had similar ideas! We served it at the rehearsal dinner and they cut around the tiger head, leaving a big chunk of the cake left. Well, I asked Dad if he could take it to the hotel for me, maybe it'd be something we could give out the next day at the wedding. I asked him about it at the wedding and he kinda gave me the "what cake, I don't know what you're talking about..." and I found out later he had gorged himself...

Thanks for the kind words about the quilt! We really love it and it took a lot of hard work on Mom's part. I asked my Dad to take a picture of the stained glass she made and will post that later today.

I was in ECON 4720 @ LSU, and my professor was making some point about rational behavior. He was saying something to the effect of "nobody would bring a cake to class unless there were bonus points."

The next class was a test, and I called Ambrosia and asked them to make a cake that said "Happy Econ Test," and brought it in and served it to the class. The cake was good, but the expression on the professor's face was much better, consider he made no such offer of bonus points and I still brought the cake.

Stupid story, but I do also love Ambrosia.
