I went to hobby lobby and got a quote for $700 to frame all 6 championship posters since the sizes require custom frames. Has anyone had any luck with trimming the posters to fit in a standard frame? Any help is appreciated.

What type of framing material? Wood? Metal?

A helluva lot cheaper than what I was quoted to mount/frame a bunch of jerseys I've collected over the years. After hearing the price.....they go back in storage.

HERE are some fairly cheap frames for movie posters...see how close the dimensions are to yours.

I have had the 3 headlines from the times picayune or advocate for the 03 & 07 football and this year championship for baseball framed and sealed at Michaels. They cost roughly $130-150 a piece. Gold metal frame with a purple back drop looks sweet.

If your in the Baton Rouge area, check with Acadian Frame and Art on Drusilla Ln. They usually have good prices and work well with people

I just had 3 of them framed at Hobby Lobby for $244.
I used the gold metal custom frame with a 2" purple matte.

Wait about six months for the "crowd to subside" then go to one of the local shops for a price around $50. The demand is high, shops are making it while they can. As for Michaels and Hobby Lobby, both are chains that don't stand behind their work regardless. Stay clear!!!

while agree with the chain store mentality behind Hobby Lobby, they are usually the cheapest around. Just wait a few weeks, they usually offer 50% off once a month on custom framing

I've seen two ads in the Advocate this morning to frame for about $35.

You can buy frames for $50.00 or less. I forgot where I'd bought some for the SEC Football Championship ones but here's one link I found when I typed in "Newspaper frames".

The company I had used could send any size you asked for. I'm not one to "put things together" but they weren't hard.

Acadian Frame and Lagniappe on Florida both advertise around $35 to frame the posters. Also Ascension Frame advertised over the weekend for similar price.

I went to Michael's and got 6 frames 18x20 for $60 and did it myself. I'm pretty sure there is one in Baton Rouge.

My Dad actually owns a frame shop and has much better prices (and quality, IMHO) than most of the shops here. He's on the Northshore, but alot of people who know about him send there stuff to him and he delivers them here. Thereare actually a number of posters here who could vouch for the work.

Wait for Michael's to have a 50% off sale on its framing. It usually happens once every month or two. That is when I bring my stuff.

Just spoke with him. If you furnish the posters, it's about $50 per poster ($300 for the set). He has been getting the prints from the Advocate, but obviously that would be an additional fee if he's providing that print. He can set it up with a metal or wood frame, gold or black with a single mat and he sets them so that they are all the same size (adjusts the mat for the smaller posters)
