With this talk about D winning championships (true).
Who are the starting 11? iyo

DT:Nevis - best since Dorsey
DT:Woods/Alexander
DE:Alem - sack machine
DE:Levingston
SLB:Riley - best of the bunch
MLB:Cutrera
WLB/SS:Sheppard/Coleman
SS:McCray - just call him matchstick, but he still is one of the most underrated players we have
FS:Jones - who?
CB:Peterson - best since ???
CB:Eugene - towelie

I imagine the most controversial/competitive position battles will be SS with McCray/Brooks, CB with Eugene/Hawkins, and the WLB position.

I find it hard to imagine him coming in and picking up the defense when he is even having troubling qualifying. No matter how much of an athlete you are, if you are thinking instead of just knowing and reacting you will be a step slower.

Yeah, he'll be red-shirting this year most likely because of his wrist. Safety should be okay though. Hatcher and Brooks will battle it out for the second position, and McCray should also get some time.

Yeh I was wondering whether McCray would get beat out. He is a solid player just seemed to be not as athletically gifted as the others.

+1 prolly will take him 2 and a half years to get his bearings

What has Woods done...other than be bigger than everyone else? He's overrated. Ill take Alexander or Hicks in that spot.

What have they done

Just sayin...

Woods has a lot of potential and is obviously the biggest space eater inside we got. If he can play up to his potential he's easily the starter there. Hicks didn't come in the spring which puts him behind and Alexander has ALWAYS had problems with (nagging) injuries.

Riley is WLB. Coleman likely starts at SLB, the coverage position. You have the two confused.

FYI, Hatcher and Brooks lined up there in the Spring, McCray was backing up Jones at free. And no, McCray is not underrated. There's nothing about his game that is really above average, and LSU can do better than that.

I wouldn't leave out Lavar Edwards, he's going to eventually be very good, and he's more talented than a guy like Corley.

The rest of your list is good. I think Sheppard will get practice reps at MLB and would be the starter if Cutrera got hurt.

What has Alexander done? Youre kidding right?

I admit im giving Hicks credit for JC success...but seriously...Woods has done zero in my mind. He always looks out of position.

Alexander has done more than Woods, but not by alot. He had 2-3 good games to start the season two years ago, but besides that, he's never really stood out. He was pretty bad last year, although he wasn't 100% back healthy (which just shows how stupid Lane was for putting him out there for so many plays, while keeping Nevis on the bench).

Considering Woods has done absolutely nothing...then that's not saying much for Alexander i guess. I really cant remember one time ive been impressed with Woods. He always looks to be a step or two from where he should be. He seems to get really close to the QB or RB in the backfield now and again...but never quite gets to them. I really think our main DTs are gonna be Nevis and Hicks. They both can get to the QB...which Chavis likes. I hope Woods proves me wrong and makes our DT depth even better.

No.

Alexander's best year = 28 tackles (with some starts, whoopie)
Woods' best year = 22 tackles (with no starts)

Really not much of a difference in terms of peak years.

How do you know Hicks can get to the QB? There's no film on him that I can find.
