In blackjack, you have the same odds as the house before the first card is dealt from the shoe.

Good luck!

Learn basic strategy with Blackjack quick... if you play perfect strategy, house advantage falls to the 1% range.

Craps has the tightest odds if you play properly.

Also, Paigow Poker allows you to play the longest (odds are even but you pay 5% commission on wins).

Blackjack, buy one of the little "strategy cards" and memorize as much as you can...stay away from slots. I like "Spanish 21" as well.

What is your craps strategy? There's just so many schools of thought.

I used to be the tax director for a casino company, and I could tell you what games would give you the best chances of winning, but the advice would depend on you making perfect decision while playing the games. Since it is unlikely that you will make perfect decisions, and the house tries to make it a difficult as possible for you to do so, there is no point in trying to suggest a particular game.

If you are prepared to lose your $300, and look at the experience as being for your entertainment, then you have the right mindset going to the casino. Try more than one game and find the game that gives you the most enjoyment while you are playing. Then you will get the most entertainment for your money, and that should be your objective.

Only if all other players at the table play perfect as well. And that isn't going to happen.

Stupid moves burn bust cards, etc. If everyone at the table plays by the book, the odds hover around 1%, when they don't it can fluctuate as far up as 7%

Put $20 in the quarter slots and only pull the handle occasionally (best if done when a waitress is walking by). You may lose $20 but you can easily make it back in drinks. Find the slot machines closest to the bar.

Myth #2: That third base player is killing me.

The Reason: The dealer shows a weak 5 upcard and all the players including yourself make the right play and stand on all stiff totals. The third baseman, who is the last player to act before the dealer, ponders whether to hit or stand on 16. He hits, the dealer gives him a picture card, and then the dealer draws a 6 to her 15 for a 21, beating everyone. Oh, how you would like to strangle the third base player. If the dummy would have stood like he was supposed to, the dealer would have gotten the picture card instead and broke and everyone would have won. Don't tell me bad players don't effect whether or not I win or lose.

The Truth: It's absolutely true that dumb plays made by dumb players can effect the outcome of a hand for everyone else. But it has been proven mathematically that it is just as likely that a dumb play could result in the entire table winning. The player in the above example could have just as easily gotten the 6, leaving the picture card for the dealer to bust. While dumb plays can upset smart players, it has no mathematical long term effect on a player's expected outcome. You always curse the stupid player that caused you to lose, but do you ever congratulate him when his stupid play causes you to win? If the terrible play of others effects you emotionally so that you start to make playing mistakes, then my advise is to leave the table and play elsewhere.

If the casino offers free odds, then the house advantage on a Don't Pass bet with maximum odds bet can be as low as 0.01%. Those are the best bets you can make in a casino without being a card counter playing blackjack. However, betting against the shooters will not make you popular at the craps table, and it isn't much fun. Making Pass bets with maximum odds gives the house about a 0.18% advantage at 10X maximum odds bet, and a 0.02% advantage at a 100X maximum odds bet.

The problem is that it is expensive to take advantage of the best bets in the casino. If the minimum Pass bet is $5, then you have to be able to bet $105 in order to get the best bet on a 100X table. And you will generally run out of money well before the casino will.

In a 6 deck shoe, there are:

- 96 10's or face cards
- 24 of every other card

I'm going to go with the odds that a 10 is coming.
