From best to worst in your opinion.

You can't just ask that without giving your order first.

+1. 09 was more complete than any team, but 97 was just too potent offensively. (Not to mention the unbelievable win percentage that year.) 96 and 93 are interchangeable at the bottom.
I can buy 91 over 09, but 00 over 09? I don't get that one.

you just gave the advocate sports section its feature article and column idea for tomorrow .. rosetta will rank the 2009 team the best ever and claim manieri is a far superior head coach to bertman ..

#1.... sarcasm and smartass.

the '93 and '96 teams had some heroics .. remember the bottom of the 9th rally against long beach state in the elimination game ? we were down and out .. won that, then smoked wichita state the next day for the title 8-0 on freshman brett laxton's 16 Ks ... and everyone knows the '96 team's drama ..

I think this year's offense was just as good as any, except for maybe 97. You put those bats in the hands of Dean, Schimpf, JMitch and the these guys and they could have cranked in 150 HRs. I think we hit about 110 this season with the much smaller bats. My ranks are;
2009
1997
1991
2000
1993
1996
And the best non NC team is 1998.

The ranking will be different depending on whether you base strength based on other LSU teams, or based on other college baseball teams at that particular time.

97
09
93
00
96
86, 87, & 90 were all better.

If you base on players having a successful pro career, then '00 would be on top.
At the time i thought the '00 team was good, but now looking back, they had alot of pro level talent. and the '97 team had alot a busts
Give another 10 years and look back on the '09 team and would be nice to see where they went...

Explain to me what happened here, I was only a baby then. 1998 I remember we were one win away from coasting to the finals. We beat eventual champion USC in the opener but fell apart.

'86- Albert Belle, Ben McDonald, Russ Springer, Mark Guthrie

86 -- LSU has all the talent, but no experience
87 -- one of LSU's best teams ever, but snakebit in the CWS (thread on the 87 CWS here)
90 -- great team that swept UGA to win the SEC, but UGA eventually won the CWS
The pitchers LSU had from '87 to '93 were just incredible. Plenty of guys with long MLB careers.
Also, here are the teams with the best winning pcts., courtesy of SPEEDY ( LINK):
It's funny how forgotten the 1992 team is.

Thanks for the stats Doc. It just goes to show everyone how hard it is to be a championship team. We are so lucky to have won six in 20 years.

It's really hard to rank this kind of thing too, because there are always so many subtle (and a few not-so-subtle) changes to the game over the years. A person like me who emphasizes pitching so much in determining great teams will come up with different answers than others.
FYI, the Wikipedia page for Skip Bertman gives the records of all his teams from '84 to '01.
