That 4th ball that turned into a wild pitch or passed ball definately hit the Texas batter - the run should have not been allowed - 1st base was open.

It did NOT definitely hit him. At best, it's something that should have been discussed, and if the home plate umpire didn't hear a sound, it stands.

No, because the the next batter would have hit a grand slam.

It didn't hit the batter, and it wasn't even really close. Mike Patrick was drunk.

It doesn't matter, but it definitely hit him!! You can see the line it makes as it hits the back of his shirt and then changes direction...mute point though, we won

It wasn't close to the batter. If you actually paid attention to the game you could see the gap between the batter and the ball was around 4-5 inches away from the batter. Either way, it was a terrible pitch.

Looked like it brushed his shirt but didn't actually hit his body to me. 4-5 inches...I think not

Unfortunately I had a football game during the beginning of the baseball game, and this very play was what I was greeted to when I started my car.

Just seems weird that one person says it definitely hit him and one person says it missed him by 4".

From the pitchers view it looked like it hit him because the ball changed directions when it hit the mitt

Then from the umps view the ball disappeared from sight and brushed by the batter (appearing to barely make contact with the shirt) and it definitely hit the mitt.

It was a close call that could have gone either way. For anyone to suggest that it was really obvious either way is crazy. No way it missed him by 4 inches.

I thought it hit him but couldnt understand why he wouldnt get help from the field umpire who may have had a better view than him since the pitch was behind the batter.

It hit the mitt to change direction, not the batter. You could not see that from the front view, had to see the play from behind gibbs to see it hit the glove.

The front view looked like it hit him and the ball changed direction.

The back view looked like it missed him and only changed direction coming off Gibbs glove.

I'm going with the clearer view (behind the batter).
A bunch of 3rd graders yelling "I'm right, you're wrong!" is beyond rantarded.

From the pitcher's point of view, I think you can see his shirt move as the ball hits it.

It certainly wasn't clear and it's definitely not a call you can be upset with. At best, it nipped his shirt.
