As I was looking at the standings of my former juco I noticed this eye popping stat. Howard College in Texas went 54-0 this year. 32-0 in league play. This is absolutely crazy and I am trying to find info that confirms this. I have never heard of a college baseball team going undeafeated. FWIW the Texas league region 5 in comparible to D1 baseball in the NCAA

Holy Howard

Just confirmed it. Howard College went undeafeated 54-0 in regular season. They lost one game in their regional but still won it. They are heading to the NJCAA World Series in Colorado with a record of 59-1. I'm speachless

I was thinking the same thing... as impressive as 54-0 and 59-1 are... there's no way.

I was thinking the same thing. They have a shitton of players that go on to D1 ball from that league. It may be on the level of some low level D1 ball conferences but not near the level of play that we in Louisiana are used to.

I didnt say SEC, but yeah most of these guys that play in the Texas League will be starting for legit D1 programs next year or will be drafted. It's a very high level of baseball. In fact my Juco team in 2003 was probably more talented then the teams I played at for ULL.

Again I said more talented, not better. The biggest difference is consistancy, but man some studs.

The best I saw in Juco was Andy Laroche who signed for a million bucks with the Dodgers. He would take infield and stare at the opposing dugout as he fielded and threw every ball. Huge cocksucker move, but very impressive

I hope most of you know that the SEC is comparable to high A or double A minor league baseball. While it is college ball, Leagues like the SEC, Pac 10, BIG 12, and the ACC are on a whole different planet then what college baseball is in the other 27 conferences.

Still, if anyone gets a chance to stop in and watch some Texas Juco ball, it's worth it.

So Hunter Moody in loA ball is comparable to the talent he was pitching against last year, or is it better?

Low A is better then the Sunbelt. He is facing better competition but you do take the metal bats out of guys hands so maybe a toss up.

Pretty much every guy who starts for an SEC team gets at least a shot at pro ball. (same goes for ACC, Pac 10 and Big 12). this is not the norm for all of d1 baseball.

Moody is my all time favorite Cajuns pitcher, I just don't know if he'll be able to make it all the way up.

I may have misread it, but I got the impression that you had gone to Howard College at some point.

it's comparable to advanced rookie ball at best.

As for the JC teams being as good as/better than D1 teams, I don't think there's any question it's true.

Maybe not the top D1 teams in the country, but there are JUCO teams out there that could destroy the rest of D1.
