Some friends and I are coming to Baton Rouge and planning on eating at The Chimes. We heard it is pretty good. I just wanted to get any of your opinions on what to get or is it not worth going at all. Thanks in advance.

Good place, good atmosphere. Nothing pretentious, but solid seafood and comfort food along with a kickass beer selection.

you're going to get a ton of "overrated" responces. But I've always loved going to the Chimes. I always get bbq shrimp or crawfish etouffee

We always go to the Sunday Brunch after a football game. Get the Eggs Benediction. It's a great meal.

Things I've tried:

burger
chargrilled catfish
blackened chicken pasta alfredo
crawfish fettucini - special
chicken sardo - special
blackened mahi - special
boudin balls
fried crab claws
onion rings
blackened alligator
crawfish, corn and red bell pepper bisque - special
potato, bacon and cheddar soup - special
creole cream of crawfish soup - special

I've tried most of their daily special soups and have loved all of them.

Never had a bad meal there.

has Chimes east gone the way of large tables of black folks ordering fried seafood platters and not tipping.....i.e. it's been Ralph and Kacoo'ed?

the ones who love to whine about the Chimes sucking. Don't remember any names or anything, but there are a lot of them.

It's a place to get a lot of beer and solid food....not an impeccable dining experience. It is what it is.

It's good but go to the one by LSU not the one off Coursey...better atmosphere and I think the food is better there. They have great crab cakes and their cheese fries are good too.
