Jefferson is going and so is Lee because they are starting the walk on. Shep is going because he will not ride the pine. Garrett is going with Shep. We will still have RR to fill in if need be.

regarding injuries, you can never have too many of any position players. IMO.

I would say to answer your question, NO.

I hope not...there are just too many unknowns for a player to make an informed decision at this time...a year from now, probably so....

Well said. Lee and Jefferson have a little edge because of playing time already logged but the competition there should be interesting.

This was notable this last year with first Hatch getting hurt, then Lee got injured. That left us with only JJ and McCarthy (that is his name right?) the walk on. It got pretty slim there last year.

The bigger issue was none of those players had much game experience. And the experience got less the more we went down the list. This year will be a little bit better on that front.

I do not see a reason for anyone leaving at this point.

J. Lee maybe, but it would be a while.

I dont understand why so many are so quick to throw JL out.
As many bad plays as the kid had last yr, he played very well at times too... plus he's the only guy that has any exp to speak of.
We should all hope and EXPECT that JL comes out this spring and fall gunning for JJ and getting his starting job back., if he in fact has even lost it.
Competition makes them all better which in turn makes our team better.

That's awfully optimistic considering the year that Lee had. He singlehandedly gave away two games, imo. As far as experience, Jefferson would have a lot more now if the coaches had given him a chance sooner, when Lee was totally shitting the bed. That's my biggest complaint about last year. Above the DC debacle, even.

to say JL's season was frustrating was an understatement..we typically gave up 7-14 points per game in pic 6s alone....

I do think however, that his problems (happy feet and locking onto his reciever) are easy to fix....once he reaches the appropriate point in maturity, the game will slow down and he will stand in the pocket and work through his progression of receivers....I expect this to happen over the summer...

do you think if Les Miles and Gary Crowton thought that JJ wouldnt have "shite the bed" any worse than JL did that they wouldnt have let him play earlier?

Geees man, come on.

What exactly did you expect from JL last Aug?
Plainly stated, the guy played like a freshman.

FWIW, our Defense was a FAR bigger dissapointment last season than JL ever was.

I wish more people understood this line of reasoning. Sadly, as right as you likely are, no one on the Rant listens to it.

FWIW, I agree with you, but don't expect the Rant to, even though that makes perfect sense.

my issue with jarrett lee is he made the same mistakes over and over again...

how many of you grinded the whole of the troy game knowing we were a single turnover from falling short of the comeback?

several pick sixes were on passes meant to build the quarterback's confidence... how many did he throw on LSU's first series? was he not getting good coaching? was the offense telegraphing something?

instead of the quick screen to a wideout crowton should have called posts and flag routes to lafell, tolliver and byrd... 40 yards downfield... would not have been pick sixes that is for certain

my understanding is jefferson wanted to red shirt and coach miles meant to oblige him...

andrew hatch had a huge option with the opportunity to return to harvard... he was probably advised to go... he had to play for the crimson

jarrett lee might be one of the greatest unsung LSU quarterbacks ever... not starting another game... he could be great help in jeferson, shepard and garrett's development... and great for the defense
