Pete Carroll talking about QBs coming out early

quote:

"The facts are so strong against this decision," Carroll said. "After analyzing all the information, the truth is there, he should have stayed for another year. He lost out on a chance to fully prepare himself. The facts are there's a 62 percent failure rate for underclassmen quarterbacks."

Anyone else stunned by this? Does JRs struggles make a little more sense now?

matt leinart really benefited from staying 4 years. would've been the #1 overall pick if he would've came out a year early.

First, I'd like to know the definition of failure. Second, I'd like to see the success rate for senior QBs.

Something tells me the "failure rate" is quite high for all QBs. Only a handful each year make a roster.

This stat is meaningless when trying to prove Pete Carroll's original point. We need to know the percentage "failure" rate (whatever that means) of senior QB's entering the draft. One would assume it is less than Juniors but without the number, and the definition of "failure", this is meaningless.

Either way, Pete was a TOOL in theat conference. He lost composure and did his palyer a disservice, period.

I wonder what the failure rate is for Senior QB's entering the draft? I would surprised if it wasn't 50-60%

ETA I guess I should've read the thread before asking this for the 10th time

lets see Matt Cassel stayed a back-up all through school in college. I think Petey was just mad and crying for his Q.B. to give him one more year. This seems selfish and childish the way he handeled himself on tv.

JR has shown plenty improvements toward the end of the season. His last 7 games: 93/152 61.1% 1134yds 7td/4int. he threw for over 66% in 5 of his last 7 games. 13td/8int over 15 games.

JR has started a total of 16-17 games?? give the man a break.

No shite a QB that played his senior yr will be more prepared for the NFL then if he came out his jr yr.

Then why do you keep raggin on a kid (even getting suspended from TD for it) that chose college, and came to LSU???

Where would we be if tards like you wanted him to leave, now that Hatch is gone?
