offered by Saban a chance to play QB at LSU rather than W.V. how would we have done this past season with him at QB?

*I would just like to see some thoughts since I was wondering a record. I would say 10-2 or 11-1 with only loss to Florida.

QB play was not as bad as the defense was. It amazes me that people think we could've lost one game with an experienced QB, considering we lost TWO games last year with a better team and an experienced QB. Absolutely amazing sometimes.

He wouldn't have four years of starting experience playing QB, so he would be a totally different player than he is today.

Still lose to UF and Ole Miss, maybe UGA. Definitely beat Arkansas and Bama.

Could Pat White play defense? Because the only way our team will be worth a damn is if we decide to stop someone.

If he had played for Saban he would have been a DB or Maybe WR. He would have been excellent at any of the skilled positions.

Saban could have given him a chance, but he wasn't beating out Jamarcus or Flynn

Good thats what I like to see, you got to do some what ifs every now and then to decide where on the map your program is by comparison. Also, I ment more like mostly this year, and if he got the chance. But, like one poster said is that he wouldn't have the experience that he has at W.V by starting 4 years compared to LSU just starting this year, his senior year.

Pat White would have done very well under Crowton. LSU wouldve been top-10 this year, probably losing to UF but maybe to no one else. Under Jimbo, probably not much. Jimbo is a master at not utilizing speed.

True, but not only that, Saban did not recruit White as QB. He was recruited as an athlete and Saban had him switching to DB. As I recall, just before signing day, Rich Rodriguez offered him the chance to play QB (the only major school that did) and White jumped at the chance and backed out of his commitment to LSU to sign with WVA.

White's had an amazing college career as a QB and is a great all around athlete (drafted in the 4th round in the MLB draft coming out of HS), but whether that will translate to the pros remains to be seen. He would certainly be a top round pick had he played DB in college as Saban projected.

As far as I know, WVU was the only decent team willing to offer him at QB. Most schools wanted him at WR or DB.

The decision to play QB will probably cost him millions. I doubt he'll play QB in the pros if any team even drafts him. Had he performed in college at LSU at DB or WR he could have been a first day pick and potentially a much more fruitful career in the NFL.

He was an LSU lock if he would have been given an opportunity to play QB, but Saban using his superior ability to judge talent only offered him as a WR.

Saban was just being honest with the kid; Pat White didn't fit in as a QB at LSU but would have been a great DB or WR, with solid pro potential. Let's not forget LSU already had JaMarcus Russell and Matt Flynn on campus (White was part of the 2004 class).

Although it would have been great to get a kid with that much talent, you have to respect Saban for being honest with White about not really fitting in as a QB at LSU, as much as Saban wanted him here. (think about it, would Pat White have been able to beat out JaMarcus? Flynn?).

So sure, if we're playing "what if" games, it would have been great had white come to LSU and sat behind JaMarcus and Flynn, and been there to step in his Sr. year when Perriloux got run off. If playing QB was what White had his heart set on (no matter what the long term consequences might be to his potential as an NFL player), then Saban did him and WVA a favor.

if he played DB, there would be no discussion if he was NFL material. He would have been another Corey Webster. Now he is just a guy who has a lot of college records.
