honestly, it looks like he wrote that article based off what this board said, so that's not shocking

yeah, and the "some people" lines were almost word for word off this board
you'd be shocked how much these writers (and radio guys...pretty much all LSU-related media) steal off this board
i mean...STEAL

If any of you are in management, then you will understand that it is important not to embarrass employees who are being let go to give them a better chance somewhere else. Les (contrary to many on this board and Dandy Don) wanted Malaveto publically hanged. Les is doing this right and other coaches who will come here to coach appreciate this handling.

That does not mean Miles won't make changes to his staff. He won't be. But it means that those changes will be handled with as much class and dignity as possible.
Best line in the article.

too bad Miles can't treat his players, specifically Lee, better than his assistants.
Point of reference, see post Ga. game where Miles blamed Lee Sat-Wed for the loss specifically the first INT of the game. See Guilbeau article on how Miles gave the D a pass while throwing Lee under the bus.
Just sayin' players deserve more loyalty than coaches...
That is all..

But that's not really much of a surprise, given Miles' background. Miles is a Michigan Man. He played and coached under the legendary Bo Schembechler.
Schembechler had a well-deserved reputation for taking care of his assistants, perhaps because he had been an assistant for a long time before getting a chance at head coach.
Unlike many college coaches, Schembechler never treated assistant coaches like disposable objects that could be easily replaced or used as scapegoats.
Miles' position coach at Michigan was Paul Schudel, who was the head coach at Ball State when I was in Indiana and covering the Cardinals. Miles and Schudel are much alike, which is no real surprise. They both are Michigan Men, who played and coached the offensive line under Schembechler.
They are good men who contribute to the community and treat people who work for them well.
this passage is the exact reason why Michigan fricked up by hiring RichRod and not doing everything they could to bring Miles back
Miles is "one of them" and RR is simply not

theft requires the taking of something of value. Rarely is their anything of value written on this board.

I have managed at a couple of companies that talked that way but didn't ACT that way. In fact the majority of companies DON'T live up to this. Cramming public humiliation down someone's throat is nasty but done all the time. What people don't seem to realize is just how rare the kind of character LM portrays really is.
SPIN: "I have decided to free up your future."

Les understands that one of the attractions of a coordinator position at LSU is the prospect of leveraging it into a head coaching job elsewhere. If he has a reputation for making that move difficult, or for blocking moves, the pool of talent he has to draw from shrinks meaningfully, especially among the more attractive candidates. On the other hand, if he has a reputation for helping his guys move up, or for letting them down with grace when they don't perofrm, he gets the best talent. Not saying that is the first reason someone might take into account in deciding to come to LSU. But when there is a close choice between LSU and another school where the Head Coach isn't known to be loyal to his staff, it can be the deciding factor. And in any event, it makes the job that much more attractive. Not only is Les doing the right thing from a pure human relations point of view. He's doing the smart thing from a management perspective as well.

Is Miles too nice? It just seems that he doesn't have much fire on the sidelines or when it comes to addressing coaches or players.
His handling of the defensive player who got the PF penatly against Ark comes to mind.

He seems to have that "good cop, bad cop" mentality on the sidelines. Problem this year was that we had no bad cop on the sidelines. O on the sidelines would change that in a heartbeat.
