This was my first game of the year. I am a high school coach in Texas and I haven't been able to come to any games this year until Troy. My fiancee and her daughter came with me. I have spent the last 3 months talking up and boasting about the "experience" that is Tiger Stadium on Saturday night.

I don't make an exorbitant amount of money so buying tickets, hotel room, gas, meals etc. that is a significant amount out of the monthly budget. SOOOOO, when I get to a game I expect certain things to happen. I expect my fellow Tiger fans to show their true Tiger spirit no matter who the opponent is. That place was DEAD! From the moment I pulled up to the moment I left after the third quarter I was FREAKING EMBARRASSED.

My fiancee's daughter, a huge UT fan, said, "What's the big deal? UT games are a lot more fun than this."

The tailgating, the atmosphere, the first 3 quarters of the game...all of it...SUCKED. Now, you tell me, if you brought someone to their first game on a Saturday night in Death Valley after you had been going on and on for months about how magical and special the place is and then they had to sit through that embarrassing debacle that was the first three quarters after being exposed to the single worst tailgating atmosphere I have ever been witnessed in 30 years as a Tiger fan, would you not leave, too?

If you felt the need to post this, then you probably feel guilty. First of all i wouldn't have taken them to the LSU-Troy game.

Uh, since you're making such a big deal out of the distance travelled, the money, bringing first timers, etc, etc, why'd you pick the Troy game? I got news for you buddy, even if we had been winning the whole game, folks would have left early. It's freakin' Troy. Next time you make plans for the BIG GAME with an intention to impress others, pick an SEC game, instead of attacking the fan base.

LSU fans support the team when they are winning. They are the exact same as pretty much any other school in the country, with the exception of a few, who support their teams wheather they win or lose.

There's bigger problems in the world then whether you had a friggin magical time at a football game.

And try buying tickets to a big game, not Troy. Even if our record was not good, games with Bama, FL etc. would be big events regardless.

yes

On a side note: I'm starting to wonder about these threads. I'm not trying to call you out, League...I actually liked your post.

Ok, so the stadium holds about 92,400 or so. Now I've seen roughly 127,296 threads on who left early and why? So, who's posting twice? 'Fess up people. There's only so many bytes Chicken can handle on the topic.

Rumor mill: LSU has a game against Ole Miss this Saturday.

shite happens, Dude! You say you're a football coach but you don't expect stuff like this too happen to a team? If you and your girlfriend are basing the Tiger Stadium experience on this one game, then please stay away and go root for the Shorthorns.

Here's a small hint sport. Don't make the first game you take two special people in your life, especially if you have been boasting about the place, a game against a team like Troy St. late in the year in the middle of a rebuidling and difficult to stomach sort of season.

So you ran your mouth about the greatness of Tiger Stadium knowing we are playing Troy? Please tell me the last time Tiger Stadium rocked for a mediocre non-conference team.

Not too bright.

avoid those like the plague. most of the people posting in them have as much knowledge of it as the ones who post on the recruiting board.

Well, If I had $1200 bucks to spend on Alabama or Georgia tickets than maybe I could. The fact remains, Tiger Nation did not answer the call Saturday night.

And as a football coach, I know when players are not giving 100% effort and NO, I don't have to sit and watch when players aren't giving effort. It's not guilt. The knee-jerk reaction is to automatically assume if someone leaves a game that they are a fairweather fan, etc. The fact remains, Tiger Stadium Saturday was an embarrassment and I NEVER thought I would say that. If you don't like to hear that then I am sorry but that is how I felt.

I feel ya on the whole travel expenses and all, but I went to the bama game and paid face value at the gate just before kick off-it's a bit of a gamble, but next time you'll know.
