I am looking to buy a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche. They are offering a "Red Tag Special" right now. One particular avalance is stickered at $35k and the Red Tag price is $25k.

Is this the bottom line or will they come down off of this? If so, how much do you think?

Thanks In Advance!

Wait until GM goes into banckruptcy, then buy up their assets at pennies on the dollar. Hell, you'll probably be able to buy an Avalanche factory for $25K.

Sticker means nothing. MSRP = Manufacturer's SUGGESTED Retail Price.

Means nothing as well.

More than likely it's not their bottom line. Check Edmunds or KBB for dealer incentives.

I hate to be a complete judgmental a-hole, but what compels a person to be in the market for such an absurd vehicle?

Well ok...i currently have an expedition but have wanted a truck for a while. I like the benefits of having the avalance vs. a typical truck. I also like the Tahoe/yukon, but don't want to spend the extra money.

What do you have against the Avalance...maybe it will sway me.

maybe you need to drive and ride in 1, it does seem like it is obsurd to someone that has never driven or ridden in 1.

the Avalanche is not obsurd, i own a 2007, had a 2003 before that. it is actually a very useful UTILITY(as in suv) vehicle. the bed keeps things dry witht he covers on it. can haul a 4x8 sheet of plywood(with back seats down of course) and tailgate UP. it has a great ride, handles rally well, runs as good as the 99 trans am i had. 5 passenger cofig is very comfortable with plenty of leg room in back(for most poeple, knees do not touch back of front seat with front seat pushed all of the way back).

and don't say anything about fuel economy. with the proper aftermarket tweeking, it can get 750-900 miles on a tank.

when i get ready to get another vehicle, if the Avalnache is still around, it will be another.

ps......wife had a 2005 tahoe, it was awful. very unstable, always felt like i was pulling a boat. wife loves Avalanche also

In other words, if you install an aftermarket 50 gallon gas tank.

Just bought a 08 Sierra crew cap pickup two weeks ago. Dealer knocked 10k off the MSRP and then gave me about 1k more than Kelly Blue book for my trade in... so probably really went more than 10k off MSRP.

fwiw I really like my GMC crew cab pickup...actually the workmanship as far as rattles and componets that fit together is better than the Tundra I had a while back

I call bullshite on this as well. As a GM truck owner, I couldn't get that kind of gas mileage even if Mrs. TigerDeacon pushed it everywhere.
