Satsumas - How can you tell when they are ripe?



Other than just pulling one off the tree and tasting it.

Do you have to wait till after Thanksgiving or after the weather gets cold enough?

I've always found that a few days after the first decent freeze is the best.

yeah, everyone has told me that after the first freeze (or damn near it). Also, they get a little softer feeling. The ones around here (Ascension Parish) came in last week for the most part, still a few stragglers.

I have been eating them for almost a month, but they get much sweeter as the weather gets cold.
