Tulane's Last Game at Tad Gormley Stadium?

Times-Picayune: Bob Toledo against Tulane return to Gormley Stadium
Excerpts:
- "But the facility itself was a track stadium."
- "If they are going to play at a place like that, they need to fix it and make it a college football stadium. To be honest with you, I'd rather play in the Superdome."
- Toledo cited the playing surface, the lack of down-and-distance being available on the scoreboard, the size of the locker rooms and the difficulty the coaches in the press box had because of their seats were too low and too far away from the end zone.
- Others complained about the poor sight lines because the stadium bleachers rise so gradually and overtaxed concession stands.
- "Outside, the pregame atmosphere was outstanding," he said. "It was what college football is supposed to be all about." "But once we walked through those gates, there was a tradeoff. Winning might have cured a lot of complaints, but unfortunately that didn't happen."
Although "[w]inning might have cured a lot of complaints" - I have to agree w/ Coach Toldeo's overall assessment.
We all know that the Superdome is not an ideal forum for the Tulane football program.
That said, an on campus stadium is unlikely ($$$, location?) - at least any time soon.

The decision not to retrofit old Tulane Stadium, into a much smaller/compact venue, is indeed regrettable.

We'd let em use Memorial Stadium if they desire........
I think they'd be able to fill one side at least.

LSU: approx. 35,000 students PLUS a thousands of 'sidewalk' fans that never attended LSU/any university.
Tulane: approx. 10,000 students and no appreciable number of 'sidewalk' fans. The student body is diverse and arrives from throughout the US, including places where college football lags behind pro sports.

There are High Schools that pack more fans into a stadium for a game and have LESS students......
No excuses.....

Texas high schools have more parental/community support.
I must say though any college football field with a track around it= the ghey.

Sure...but not in New England, parts of CA, etc.
As a Tulane grad, I can state that students from schools w/ notable football programs were in the minority.
A typical student attended a smaller private/public schools where basketball, hockey, lacrosse or soccer may have dominated.

Sorry, you must also be talking about places like Denham Springs, LA...
How about visiting the world outside the ol' Confederacy sometime?

The attendance of 23,749 was the fourth-largest for a Tulane game at Tad Gormley Stadium.
The Green Wave have averaged 25,390 in five games at Tad Gormley all-time.

Its true for a ton of HSes a lot of parents and community focus themselves around HS. With a diverse group of athletes and students like college's has you don't get that.

FWIW, App State has a track around their field and it doesn't look that bad considering.

Agreed.
That said, I suspect there are a number of colleges/universities with such a layout.
