Ever dreamed of owning some space rock that shoots?
U.S. gunmaker Cabot Guns is set to introduce the ultimate in luxury firearms: a pair of 1911A1 pattern pistols made of meteorite, one of the rarest substances on Earth. The guns, which will be sold as a paired set, will likely set the buyer back a cool $1,000,000.
Cabot, which manufactures American-made handguns to precision tolerances, purchased a 70- pound chunk of the so-called Gibeon meteor. Discovered in Namibia in 1836, the meteor was dated to roughly 4.5 billion years ago—about the time life first came into being on Earth. About 15 tons of pounds of the meteorite have been found

The guns are almost entirely made out of the chunk of meteorite, with the slide, frame, grips, and trigger made of the interplanetary metal. Before they started chipping away at the very, very expensive extraterrestrial rock, a 3D scan was made of the chunk to plan where the cuts were made.
The guns will be sold in a single set of two firearms, called the "Big Bang Pistol Set"—one for left handed shooters and one for right handed shooters. They will also be sold with display cases, because obviously one of the reasons to buy a million-dollar pair of guns is to show them off.
Cabot plans to sell the guns at auction, and believes the set will fetch anywhere between $500,000 and $1,000,000.
Whose the guy that bought the $100,000 rifle? Here you go, next investment.

Interesting...I have seen meteorite made into watch faces and that kind of thing in the past, but never anything structural like a pistol...

Yeah I thought it was just going to be the grips, or something simple like that.

I did too, I read the article twice to make sure that wasn't the case before posting. I like those grips a lot.

I was thinking, isn't a meteorite mostly Iron? So this is really just a steel alloy?
Still cool, but had crossed my mind that the minerals aren't that exotic, but the location of where it came from is.

Most of the metal meteorites (which are pretty rare) are iron and nickel. I watched a couple of youtube videos of knife making out of meteorites and they did an extensive amount of reworking the metal to make it suitable to use.
