The dear wife volunteered to mow the front yard and got 4 stings. Unlike last year, the nest hole is very visible and open. Short term, I loaded it up with Bengal wasp and hornet. Obviously, the ones out foraging were not killed. I can get close enough to see a mass of bodies at the entrance. I have foaming spray to use after dark.

So, will the returning wasps die from the earlier spray? Anything more I can do during daylight without getting stung?

Often I have wondered that same question. Will they land in the spray and have enough to die? Will they notice something wrong with their home and avoid it?

They seem to be hovering over the entrance, but will not land.

Had a pair of tony lama work boots by the back door that I stopped wearing. Walked outside one day and noticed that yellow jackets had made a nest inside one of them. They closed the 4 holes at the top used to pull the boot on your foot except for little holes in the middle where they went in and out. I used 2 and a half cans of the industrial wasp spray and there must have been at least 150 dead when I got done. Just glad my puppy didn't find that nest before me.

There was a guy around here a few weeks ago that got into nest while clearing some land with a bobcat. After getting out of the line of fire he past out and never woke up. His wife said in the paper that he had been stung before and never had any allergic reactions in the past.

If you have any raccoons around, wait until night, and cake the entrance in peanut butter or honey and inside the entrance a bit if you can without getting stung. It will attract the coons and then they will discover the nest and completely lay waste to the nest. I've gotten rid of 2 nests this way.

They eat it all. Every yellow jacket and the actual hive.

They will destroy the nest but you still have a bunch of yellow jackets looking for a new home

A half cup of dawn dish soap in a five gallon bucket of water will kill every one of them (ants and wasps too).

Do it at night when all are in there

Don't know about the ones you missed. They may still use the nest. I would go back at night and shine a light at the entrance and see if they are around and then kill them

I went back at night with the foaming spray straight into the hole.
