Enough that you wouldn't use them? Speaking hypothetically, would you hunt with a bullet that 'locked onto' its target and hit bullseye every time? With technology advancing the way it has in the last few years I wouldn't be surprised to hear of something like this within my lifetime. Missiles have used laser guided technology for years. There are obvious advantages to this, but wouldn't it take at least some of the sport away from your hunts?

I mean...guys sit in a recliner in heated blinds staring down a lane with a timed feeder waiting for that big 10 that they got on their game camera that automatically sent them the pics to their phone 2 days earlier with a high powered rifle with a scope and we still considered that sporting, so I really don't think having a guaranteed perfect shot is that big of a deal

and honestly it would probably be a good thing since it would mean no more wounded deer or gut shot deer that never get found

And they look down on crossbows.

With rifles and crossbows, I can't imagine it getting easier. How do people ever miss?

And it's still pretty easy to screw it up at crunch time.

To the OP...i would not want a guaranteed kill shot. But i do like my box stand with heater.

Agreed, but take for example if this was more hunting from a remote location with a tablet or laptop that controls a robotic camera/scope and some semblance of a rifle that shoots a laser guided bullet. I just think the skill of stalking/scouting and accurately hitting a target is a huge part of the appeal of hunting. This would take most of that away. I'm wondering if some in the hunting community wouldn't shun this type of 'hunting' as almost too easy. It would certainly be completely different any type of hunting we've known all our lives. I'm sure it would appeal to some and not to others.

well of course they would

the hunting community is just like any other community in that we love feeling morally superior to others

The actual shot is pretty much the easiest part of deer hunting, so I don't really see the point of it.

I'm sure the technology exists where I could electronically monitor my Arkansas lease from my office in NOLA, use a drone controlled rifle to shoot the deer by my feeder, have a processor pick it up using GPS coordinates, process it and deliver the meat and mount via UPS. But then I wouldn't get to go hunting so no, I don't want that.

S'port? Yes. We've slowly been eliminating the sporting concept for a while. i dint think it takes away from harvesting though

You would be surprised. The last trip i went on there were a few guys at the camp that seemed to miss something almost every hunt. Spent several hours looking for deer they thought they hit. I am amazed at how many rifle hunters don't shoot their rifle at least yearly and don't even know what type of ammo they have in their gun
