Going to be doing some fencing at my house. Wooden fence planks are looking to be 1.55 a piece at Lowe's, cannot find anything cheaper.

What kind of screws should I use for this? Don't want them rusting up like some I have seen in the past.

At $1.55 for board, screws are going to be the least of your worry, that stuff is gonna twist and warp like crazy. But the coated star head deck screws will hold up like you want.

The good boards at lowes and HD near me are $2.57 and $2.48 a board

Lowes and Home Depot have deck screws in either green or tan color with a hex bit head. These are the best I have used. They will last longer than the wood you build your fence with.

I wish the boards I needed were that cheap. I need deck boards to rebuild my deck and they're $8.50 a board. I never knew wood was so expensive. The green coated deck screws mentioned above are the best I've used as well. I even put them in the concrete board behind my shower tiles in case moisture somehow gets back there.

Ordered these and have maybe 200 left after doing 180 ft of fencing with 6 screws per board. I bought all my wood from 84 lumber, btw.

Do not use galvanized hardware in pressure treated wood, I've seen them corrode bad.

Had to rebuild a fence due to a hurricane, folded it over some.
Used screws on the new so I can remove every third board or so if winds are coming.

I've always used the grey coated decking screw.
