It will change once you get married and y'all share the responsibility for bills. It is pretty selfish to buy an expensive object without consulting your partner beforehand.

We each have our own spending accounts to remove this conflict for smaller purchases, but large purchases, we still consult the other. It is what marriage is about.

You, sir, should write a book.

If only that would work in my case. My wife is a miser and barely ever indulges herself with clothes/jewelry etc...

Same here. My wife goes to the Jewelry show once a year and buys her a $30 purse. She has a few pieces of nice jewelry, but wears them every day, so not a lot of jewelry either.

The only thing she spends way to much money on is her classroom.

Things change with marriage.

My wife is the type that she'll eventually cave in to whatever I want. We both work, no kids, and up until this year she made more money than me. I'd rather convince her that I, err WE, "need" the gun than impose my will on her and have her resent me for it.

Neck

The issue is a young married couple fresh out of school a 500.00 hand purchase may be a large ticket item is the point. And I will say this you can come on a message board and say "this is how its going to be" but I would hope you were raised better than that to talk to your wife like that.

My advice on this thread:

If your finances allow it, don't tell your wife. Do you think Mrs. TigerDeacon has any idea of how many guns I have? As long as her .30-06 is there and ready for her to hunt (maybe once a year), she doesn't care what else I have.

This thread should be stickied, so that way OBers can reference it for excuses when their wife pulls the "you have enough guns already card."

If it flys, floats or fricks, we'd be money ahead to just rent it...

I would put it polite, more like hey I am going buy this gun for safety and she's an awesome girl so she would be like alright by my addictions are with fishing, LSU, and Saints road trips and she enjoys all of the above so we never have any issues

My fiancee is cool with my gun purchases. I don't spend money on other things, so I get a couple of new guns a year

Guess I'm lucky. My wife actually bought my last two guns for me as presents. Course she likes to hunt and fish as much as I do. The bad part is she likes all of the outdoor stuff I like, so when I buy anything I have to buy two.

Then next gun I will get will be for her. I hope to spark the inner gun nut.

She wants the Ruger LCR only if it has a laser. I think this might be a turning point

MAJOR progress. Once she shoots some cool stuff (fruit, appliances, etc) she will ask you why the hell you don't have more guns

So I finally got the dreaded, and anticipated
"you cant buy another gun until you sell one you already have"
from the wife.

Anyone here gotten that?

Nope, she complains that I have too many but doesn't say a word when I buy new ones.

1. Separate checking accounts.
2. Gun safe.
3. Gunbroker- "I'm going to sell one of the other ones...."
