Why downvote when Southerners rarely see winter weather each winter?

I was just wandering around hoping for a squirrel or woodcock. Ended up seeing some deer and followed their tracks for a why which was cool.

The woods seem quieter than normal for some reason. No birds sounds that day. No squirrel movement. It's as if everything but deer said, we are sitting this one out.

Saw it on my phone weather app yesterday, but it looks like they are backing off. NWLA fwiw.

It first said 58% chance of 1-3". Now it's saying 30% with no accumulation.

One reason for this is that a layer of snow actually deadens sound quite a bit.

Also, squirrels don't like bad weather. I've learned a lot about those little fricks from chasing them around with a hawk the past few years.
