But I would do a euro mount for any buck they kill. Or any I kill also. I rather the euro mounts.

If you saw the axis buck I saw riding around today you would. Easily 30x30.

Probably not. Don't care for full shoulder mounts that much.

I like the euro mounts too when I first signed up on this site I remember someone had just done their own. It turned out good but I can't find that thread. You have any idea?

Did he make you wait to take a bigger deer or was that the first to walk out?

Depends on the situation. A nice 8 pt with a 14" or so spread, probably so. Exceptions could always be made.

Daughters first was a nice little 8 about 14" spread.

We did a euro mount and had the hide tanned.

The horns are on the trophy wall the hide is in her room

I wish my dad would have done that with my first buck instead of getting it shoulder mounted. It's a 15 inch 7 point, maybe 2.5 years old, and looks like a squirt compared to the rest of my mounts.

I mounted my first kill. It was an 8 point with an 18 1/2" spread. Beautiful coloring to the rack. I was pretty pumped about it bc It was only my second season to hunt. I tell myself I won't shoot any buck smaller but if I have a drout like my FIL and BIL I'll reconsider.

Don't paint yourself in corner with killing only a bigger buck than your lasts based just on the antlers. Learn how to age them and hunt for the mature animals.
