My daughter has a red rider. It won't pierce a water bottle. My son has a Gamo Big Cat .177, it has rolled a few possums, a coon and 5-6 rabbits.

Gamo Big Cat .177

would that be safe for shooting into trees in Southdowns?

Please don't do this. It is cruel.

Having said that, I'm guilty of shooting dozens as a child with only one confirmed kill with a temple hit at 20 feet. That BB gun is just powerful enough to break bones or cause lethal soft tissue injuries.

I've softened in my old age.

1 in 1000 shots you may ear hole him or hit him in the temple... yes.

The 999 other times he'll just jump, run up the tree and start barking at you.
Ok, so what I'm taking from this is caliber size doesn't matter it's all about shot placement.

And the .243 argument starts in...
