New red Ryder's can't kill mice. I keep one in the toolbox of my truck for fun though. It won't even go through one side of a beer can at 10 yards every time.

Yes. Killed a squirrel with my Red Ryder when I was a kid. Shot hit him right between the eyes from about 10 yards. That was the only one I ever killed with it but the stars aligned for me just right that one shot.

No, as a child, I did knock one out of a tree with a Red Ryder once. I think I just threw his balance off, and he fell about 50' from a pine tree limb. When he hit the ground, he didn't move for about 10 seconds, then hauled arse back up the tree.

it def. penetrates one side of the beer can as posters have mentioned.
This sucks... I have about 4 in my back yard constantly in the oak trees above my house knocking acorns off that hit the roof and try to take me out.
I have been blasting them but didn't think they did anything besides sting their arse for a second.
I am in neighborhood so I don't want to use anything else for safety reasons towards my neighbors.
Any other suggestions?

Trapping them is the only option if you don't want to shoot something more powerful. You can buy a trap from tractor supply for about $15

I shot a lot of birds with mine growing up but I don't recall ever having a confirmed kill.
