Why do so many people condemn anyone they see in a picture after taking an exotic animal

It seems to me that everytime a picture of someone with an elephant, rhino, tier, lion or something of that nature people are trying crucify that person and it's nothing but a huge witch hunt. Bow of course alot of these people are the ones who are the vegan pussy let's members who bitch about any animal dying but half of the people condemning them see nothing wrong with hunting over here or are hunters themselves. Do these people not realize 1. Most poachers don't take a trophy pic with their game and 2. There are actual tags for animals that are even endangered if it is a problem animal? I was wondering if anyone with more experience with exotic hunts could fill me in on something I'm missing TIA

I am glad there are people out there that go on these safari hunts because it does generate lots of money and meat for the locals over there
That being said, I would never shoot any of the above mentioned animals Would love to get over there and see them in their natural environment but wouldn't shoot one even if it's fully paid for trip
Would never condemn anyone over it though

The only one that really bothered me was the Triceratops.

The spotted owl did make me cringe.

I agree. I don't see the appeal of shooting any of the animals mentioned.
But, if it's done in a sustainable and legal way, knock yourself out, I guess.

quote:Well, a lot of those are now extinct, so they may have a point there. Personally, I don't know why people want to hunt these animals. A lot of times, it's not much of a "hunt" and the animal numbers are dwindling in some cases. And I've never tasted elephant, but it can't be that great.
rhino

Somewhere between baby seal and Bald Eagle eggs on the taste spectrum.

I am the same way, but I am actually offered a fully paid trip. I'm having a hard time with what to do. Take pictures and drink lots of beer, shoot the animals I am offered? I'm going regardless just not sure what I want to do.

Read Peter Hathaway Capstick and I think you'll want to pick up a rifle.
I've never been, but would certainly not turn down a free opportunity. Those who call a hunt easy, usually haven't been on that hunt.
Elephants are smart and must be stalked in close to ensure a kill shot. Often these shots are taken close enough where a charge is possible. I would think shooting a classic double rifle on a dangerous game safari would be amazing.

quote:your the type of person I'm talking about. Obvioudly the management areas aren't going to let you kill an animal that could save a dying species. So the rhino tags they do have out are the ones that can afford to be taken out and in some cases need to. I'm not saying it's right to slaughter species I'm doing why dp so many people won aren't vegan pussies throw a guy when a guy legally bags am animal that needs to be taken out

Trophy hunting isn't my thing but I'm not doing to condemn. I can generally discuss my point without being hateful, unless it's domestic politics
I just read the greatest melt ever by Paul Watson over a 16 year old captain leadind his whale crew in landing a whale at point hope.

This. How on earth could anyone want to shoot an elephant?

In some areas there are too many elephants for the land, a few need to be taken and normally they are old bulls well past their prime. Selling of the hunt brings in money to the national and local economies. Even if I had the money, this hunt is not for me, but they do serve a useful purpose...

quote:You have no idea what type of person I am. My grandfather's living room would have made the average "vegan pussy's" fricking head explode. He had zebra, kudu and lioness skins on the floor, water buffalo, ibex and gazelle heads on one wall, a big arse gun cabinet on the other, traditional Kenyan Zulu bow, arrows and shield hanging above the double staircase and two big ivory tusks on either side of the fricking fire place.
your the type of person I'm talking about.
The reason I don't hunt has nothing to do with morality. I just think it's fricking boring and his African safari stories never sounded very exciting to me. Personally, I'd rather catch a 14 pound bass than bag 10 elephants, lions, great white sharks, etc.
As for the rhinos, some of them have been driven to the brink of extinction WHILE these wonderful conservation policies have been in place, so apparently things aren't going as planned.

Non hunters are ignorant to the process and to the huge amount of upside brought on by these hunts. they just see a picture of some dead charismatic megafauna and some presumably financially well off human smiling next to it.
Hereis a great video to share with anti hunters that explains all the positives that come from these types of hunts.

I can appreciate the hunters that want to go and stand down these beasts. I also understand hunting Kudu, Sable or other similar type animals in their natural environment.

Is that the guy who instigates a charge prior to shooting the animal?
I can't recall his name, but he had a quote in one of his videos, something along the lines of "shooting an animal that is not charging, is just killing". Then the next clip shows him shooting buffalo at 75 yards.
