Which used truck would you purchase if prices were about the same?

I'm looking to get a new to be truck sometime after first of the year. It's a secondary vehicle for me, that probably won't be driven more then 2,500 miles a year. Which would you choose?

A: A vehicle 3-5 years old with 100k+ miles

B: A vehicle 6-8 years old with 50-60k miles?

Since it not something I'll be depending on daily I can't decide what to do. Truck have gotten a lot more expensive since I last bought anything over 10 years ago. Leaning towards F150's right now.

I'm in the same boat. It will be secondary and may put 5000 miles on it a year.

I'm looking even older. 6 years with 60kish is really babying a vehicle. The other option is a bunch of commute mileage. Maybe something like 6-8 years and 100k.

Just buy a yota. It won't matter how old it is, or how many miles are on it. You'll never have any problems.

Well obviously that would be ideal, but that starts getting more then I want to spend

Probably newer. Newer vehicle should last 200K+ these days.

But it would also depend on the condition of the truck. Whether it shows signs of abuse/heavy towing, stuff of that sort.

When does this age begin though? 2000? 2005?

Well I've actually had a 99 F150 and an 01 F150 each with over 200K miles on them and they ran great until the day I sold them. But I'm not sure if I would say that all trucks that year 2000-05 are going to last that long.

i'd lean to newer especially since you say you are putting hardly any miles on it. newer will give the truck better value 5 years from now than something 3 years older with a bit less milage.

What are you using the truck for? If not towing or mud riding find a good condition F150 with a 4.6
That motor is one of the best late model ford engines built.

Newer year model.

Newer trucks are built better than old ones.

It'll just be general use... No towing or off road. It has to be a crew cab though cuz I'll have car seats to put in the back seat

Can I recommend an 8 foot trailer? Would save you a lot of money.

This is the right answer. Don't over think it.
