I hope every cop that acts like this is fired. I don't care what city you work for, state laws overrules you. The fact that it's New Orleans makes no difference to me, judges, or the ACLU.

Anyone know the status of the Department of Justice in their attempt to take down NOPD?

I'm from New Orleans. I know they're scumbags.

Def gives all the good guys a bad name. We all have them in our profession, a badge and a little power just seems to produce a few more.

Without a doubt. The fact that most interactions with the police are negative in nature doesn't help either.

Cf, no idea. I believe that they are still down there but I am not sure to what extent.

I'm shocked with all the shite NOPD pulls that the DOJ hasn't stepped in sooner or more aggresively.

Without wiping the plate clean and starting over there really isnt much that they can do. Its a cultural thing.

Holy Sh*t!!! The NOPD arrogance is seeping from his pores. Sounds like he(OP) is going to take it to the limit. I hope he cleans house.

I'm not one to take up for cops. But in defense of NOLA cops, you have to consider who they're working for.

Wouldn't him being locked in the storage room be considered unlawful imprisonment also?

I hope that he gets paid. I really do.

BR, the cop worked for Whole Foods. Or at least that was who hired him to do extra detail. This cop didnt just get done busting a million dollar drug deal around the corner and see a gun and freaked out. He was watching for people stealing carrots and decided to assault this innocent man.

Little to nothing will come of this but, this cop should be punished professionally and the law abiding citizen should sue additionally.

I know. I remember the incident.

I was talking about N.O. cops in general, and why they're such pricks.

Excuse me. Im officer ***** with **** department. I see that you are open carrying and I respect the fact that you are exercising your right but the management of the store has requested that you not bring a firearm into the store. Im going to have to ask you to either leave the property or secure your firearm in your vehicle while you shop here.

Absolute correct way to handle the situation. If you are too afraid to approach an otherwise non confrontational individual practicing their legal right to open carry with respect and dignity then you need to not be a cop.

Yea I understand why some of them are so uptight. Some of them are just downright stupid though. I HATE the NOPD and I've only been to new orleans three or four times.

I have no reason to ever go back to NO again.

There was no posting on the door stating that it is a gun free zone. That is necessary in the state of LA. You cannot possibly expect citizens to memorize which stores are safe and which ones are not.
