If I was a betting man I would bet you that it is from a place named Spotted Dog Sporting Goods.
ETA. Damn it too late.

Just did some research. That wooden 1911 costs 1795.00

Mother of God!
The craftsmanship is awesome, but for that amount of money, just buy a super nice real 1911.

Been in LE for 18 years. I can say that of those 18 years I have carried some great 1911's for about 14 of those years. We have a firearms officer that got me hooked on them because of the trigger making less than great shooters at least decent shooters. However, I have taken a 1911 down to the frame to clean and the newer "plastic" guns. There is a ton of shite that can gone wrong with a gun that has as many parts as the 1911. Not saying it doesn't happen with plastic guns but I can tell you from personal experience and attending many hours of training that most of the problems that happen on the line happen with the 1911. Think of a part and I can think of a problem. Except maybe for the......nevermind. I have seen alot of problems with them. I still carry a micro Springfield 1911 off duty but I now carry a HK P30 on duty. And that firearms instructor that carried one for almost all of his 19 years and in combat. Well he now carries a glock. Just FYI. Yeah I know.

That.
I love the 1911 because it's a piece of classic pistol perfection. It appeals to my artistic side so to speak. You pick it up and it's an extension of your arm. It just feels right.
But it's a hundred plus years old at this point and even shitty plastic pistols are more reliable and hold twice the ammo for half the price. And that's the 'battlefield' these days. If you get into a gunfight, it's likely going to be against a glock or glock wannabe. Why would you want to go into that fight with something that is not the fighting equivalent of what your opponent is shooting? If anything, you want to have an advantage.
Feeling cool in your hand and looking pretty are not part of the 'win a gunfight' equation.
There are some old muzzleloaders that are orgasmic pieces of perfection, but that doesn't make them the equivalent of a modern firearm. It makes them range pieces or wall hangers or things that you just buy and keep because you like to break them out every once in awhile and look at it and play with it. But anyone that would choose one over a modern weapon is a corpse waiting to happen.

Not so fast my friend. I am way more accurate with my 1911 than my Taurus 247, my Kel-Tec P11, or my brother's XDM that I've shot. I honestly feel confident that I can do as much, if not more, critical damage with 8 rounds of .45 screaming from the business end of it than I can with nearly twice the rounds from other guns I've shot. If needed, I can slam a new clipazine in quick enough that I wouldn't even really be at a big disadvantage quantity wise.
I don't know what that means about my marksmanship, it could mean I suck at shooting. But a blanket statement that 1911's aren't as effective because they hold less rounds, isn't always applicable.

It means the 1911 makes up for your poor technique and fundamentals.... You probably don't suck at shooting but most modern handguns are going to be more accurate the 99% of shooters are, so if you can hit with anything but a 1911 it's probably the Indian not the arrow.

That isn't 100% the case.
The thing that makes the 1911 such an easy gun to shoot is an unhinged, smooth, crisp trigger. Almost every other trigger on the market is hinged and makes the shooter more likely to pull the shot. This quality also makes the 1911 GREAT for teaching new shooters. I've taught probably 4 or 5 friends on my S&W and all of them have preferred it over the others. That trigger really is a godsend.
So basically it comes down to wanting to put the cards in your favor. If someone has a better chance of hitting a target under stress using a 1911, give that man or woman a 1911.
But I do agree that technique and fundamentals can be improved on any platform. For me, I have shot with so many different platforms that it wouldn't be too hard for me to hit ABOUT the same with each one. But my shooting is still the best with my 1911.
Also with those facts aside, I don't carry my 1911. Not because of the "bad" reliability but because it's really big and really heavy. I like my lightweight SR9c and CM9 in my carry rotation because they are both easier to carry.

1911's are to gun guys what jewelry is to women. I'm looking at getting a new one, but can't decide on which one. Really like the Wilson Combat pistols, but hard to pay that price. Also looking at the Ed Brown's, Les Baer's. Baer's are awsome and a grand less, but the wilson look f$%king cool.

Out of the big three, that being Brown, Baer, and Wilson, Baers are my least favorite of them.

Why? Functional issues or just cosmetics?
Posted on 4/27/13 at 12:50 pm to SmackoverHawg
Cosmetics, I have an EB executive carry. I don't have a Wilson.
Posted on 4/27/13 at 12:53 pm to KingRanch
But Les Baer seems like such an awesome dude.

The Wilson's do look badass and they're built here in Ark. I've been wanting one for yrs. It's just been hard to pay $3500+ for the one I want. I can get some badass rifles with optics for that price. I'm sure I'll break down and get one eventually.
