The one closest to me. I wouldnt be worried about which gun I grabbed.

LOL! Gotta admire your dedication to your cause, no matter how wrong it may be.

I don't have the ruger American, but I do have a weatherby in 6.5 creedmoor. I really like the rugers though and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. I own that 6.5 creedmoor and I also own a 6.5 Grendel. I just love the 6.5's. I can't put down my creedmoor long enough to take my Grendel hunting so I'm not sure how the Grendel does on deer, but that creedmoor is a beast. For a long time I bought and sold my hunting rifle every year because I couldn't find one I liked. My 6.5 creedmoor is the exception to that. I've had it a few years and killed quite a few deer with it and I don't ever plan on getting rid of it. You won't be disappointed with a creedmoor.

6mm dasher or BR

I wouldnt mind having a 6.5x55 swede or a custom 6mm rifle just to play with though.

Went to TP to buy the Ruger today. All they had in stock was the gray barrel. Rode up to Simmons and a guy was filling out the yellow form on the last blued barrel they had in stock. Put my name down to call when they get some more in. Hopefully it won't be long.

I appreciate all the input fellas!

Once you get a chance to hunt w/ the Grendel, you'll like it. I've killed about 25 big game, some prairie dogs and a turkey w/ a 6.5 JDJ handgun; most were killed using the 120 gr Nosler BT. The Grendel rifle runs a 120 gr bullet about 100 fps faster than my handgun barrel. If available, I'd recommend loads using the 120 gr NBT or the 130 gr Nosler AccuBond.

If you are arguing that the 243 and 6.5 are ballistically comparable then you’re just too stupid to talk to.

That sounds like a good bullet in the Grendel. I have hornady 123's for it. I don't load so I'm stuck with factory ammo. I'm sure they'll do the job though. The only reason I always take my creedmoor all the time is because I have a trijicon 2.5-10x56 scope on it and I can damn near see into the future with it. I just haven't forked out the money for a good scope for my Grendel yet.

At the time I was deer hunting a lease in SW TX and TX had a turkey gun season that ran concurrently w/ the very end of deer season. I readily admit I was blessed w/ some good luck.

It'll kill deer fine. I lot more prefer a 7mm-08 or .260. It just amazes me at the folks that think you've gotta have a 7mag or .300win to kill a 200lb deer. Newsflash folks they aint a monster and sure don't take a magnum to kill em

A .22 magnum and a .338 magnum will kill them equally as dead. One obviously allows you to be a little less picky with your shots than the other.

Everything about the 6.5 sounds good. But it’s just the latest flavor. Seems we went through this with the 7mm-08 not that long ago. If you already own a deer rifle, chances are, a 6.5 won’t do any better than what you’ve been shooting.

Lots of this. Every time I get close to pulling the trigger on a sexy new caliber I think about the dozens of deer I have killed with my tired old boring 30-06.

To be honest I HATE it's the new fad caliber. I have been shooting one for about six or seven years and the biggest reason I started was it's ballistics and no one had ever heard of one. Combining those two together made me feel when the next Sandy hook type event occurred I would still be able to get ammo and reloading supplies for it.

Over the last two years I have seen the popularity snowball, rats...

We shot my sons yesterday getting ready for next weekend. Forgot how much fun it is to shoot.
