Just curious. I'm thinking of building a 300 AAC for night hog hunting after deer season.

I thought it was 16', but I know I've seen guys hunting with those shorter AR's. Maybe because of private land?

I think you need an expensive license for any rifle with a barrel under 16".

Any rifle built with shorter than a 16" barrel requires a $200 tax stamp. If the barrel is 14.5" but the muzzle treatment is pinned/welded, it's still considered a 16" barrel

You can build it as a pistol and put a stabilizing brace on it such as the Sig Sauer SB15. 8.5" and 10.5" are popular bbl lengths for 300 BLK pistols.

Check out AR15.com for unlimited information on the AR15 rifle/pistol platform.

You can hunt with any barrel length. But if you are building a rifle with a barrel under 16" you need to have a tax stamp from the ATF. If you build a short barreled rifle without a getting a tax stamp you are breaking the law by just owning it much less hunting with it.

I built this one. Super quiet with subs. It has a 9 inch ballistics advantage barrel. The Omega Supprssor is the tits.

That is quite a handsome rifle sir. I like the collapsible buffer tube as well. How well does that work?

And is that by chance a machined 80% lower? If so I have quite a bit of interest in using your drill press to do mine.

It works great. I have the Emod stocks on all of my AR's sans my truck gun. This is a 6 position BT but rarely move it. I like it in the second position. This is my go to SHTF gun. I can load it with subs for QCB or go supersonic for longer range.

It's a milled lower I purchased from Ferrera Firearms. They had them on sale earlier in the year for around $120.

Is the tax stamp for the suppressor the same as for the shorter barrel?

if you buy an SBR, it's a form 4 just like a can

if you build one, you do a form 1
