What zero turn do I need?

Been looking at zero turns the past few weeks. I've looked at everything from Lowes Husqvarna to Exmark Pioneer, and I'm just not sure what brand, price, and level of build to go with.
I've only got about an acre to mow, and its pretty flat and obstacle free. Slim chance I'll actually hit something with the deck, so I'm going back and forth on the welded deck.
I would like a good engine , and soft seat(cheap seats suck), and at least a 48" deck. I'm willing to go up a bit in price if its actually going to benefit me substantially.
Any thoughts on brands, and what i sjould go for, for my situation?

Im a Gravely fan, but my brother got a Kubota 48" rig yesterday and that bitch is sweet.
I think it was 5700 or 5800 with spring seat, foot controlled deck elevation, bigger rear wheel and a few other small things.
It has a bracket deck instead of floating deck on chains but IMO for home use a floating deck isnt necessary.

for one acre literally anything you get will be fine
I wouldn't go spending a bunch of money
yes 48" deck minimum

I've been pleased with my Hustler Fastrak. I went with the 54" deck to give me a little added width outside the wheels to get next to fences and trees.

I'd agree. Go with a hustler. Stay away from Husqvarna. Gravley 2nd best option for a casual 1 acre cut

Yeah been looking at the hustler raptor SD, but the fastrak looks awesome.
On a side note, the exmark quest with the welded deck now comes with an exmark branded engine. First year for that, which us scary to me.
What about Bad boys? Anyone have one?

My uncle and my wife's uncle have Bad Boy's and like them. I think they both have automatic deck lifts which is cool. Their yards are fairly flat and easy. I have an Exmark Lazer-Z with the welded deck and hydraulic motors and it will plow through anything. I actually ran over a crowbar one time and all it did was nick the blades. If I only had an acre to cut. I would find a good local dealer and go with whatever they have. Stay away from Lowe's and Home Depot. All of the entry level stamped decks are all the same, so having a good dealer for parts and service would be a plus.

honestly, I wouldn't get a zero turn for a lot that is only an acre...mine is about that size and I saved a heck of a lot of cash by going with a regular rider. I can cut the whole thing in a half hour....

Our husqvarna sucks. My buddy has a Hustler that is very nice. I've also heard great things about bobcat, skagg, X-mark.

If it doesn't cost as much as a slightly used Honda Accord, you're probably doing it wrong.

This? Kind of wanting to go check one out myself. I need something in the 60" to 72" cut.

I have two acres i mow. i have a John Deere with the 48" deck. I can mow both acres in about an hour and some change. Been having it for over three years and have never had any issues with it.

My good friends dad is a bad boy dealer in Woodville Ms. I am going in the next few weeks to look myself. I'm tired of cutting mine with a tractor an finishing mower.
Mr Donny at Colonial outdoor power will fix you up. It's the old Chevy dealer on 61 north. I THiNK it's no tax for La residents.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the main brands. You should go test drive some and see which one feels best for you. For an acre, I would probably lean toward a Hustler Raptor SD type of quality and price. I wouldn't put too much into the welded vs. stamped deck argument; both sides have good points, but I don't feel either is superior in every situation. One thing to keep in mind is service. Buying from Lowes will be a nightmare for any service work.
I just purchased a Gravely Proturn 160 for 4.25 acres. I felt for the $8K price range, it was the superior unit of the brands sold in my area. Last year I was going to buy a Hustler Fastrak SD for around $7K, but they decided to downgrade the engine from FX to FS this year.

I have a Bad Boy 60" with a 30hp Kohler engine that I mow my 15 acres with weekly (takes about 6 hours). It's a 2009 model and has nearly 1,000 hours on it. The thing has taken a beating over 6 mowing seasons, but I've never had any major problems. Obviously, the deck is solid.
This is the only zero turn I've owned, so I cannot really provide any meaningful comparisons to others. When I have to buy another, I will look around, but I imagine I will stick with what I know has worked for me.

thanks for starting this thread again (no sarcasm intended).. I'm in the same boat as you looking at zero turns.. about an acre but the front yard is on a slope.. I'm thinking about the Hustler Raptor SD 48".. i have a buddy that works at the exmark dealer and would feel guilty if i didnt buy from him but it seems like $1,500 more to get something equal
