What would be the most miles you are comfortable with on a used diesel?

Looking to get a 3/4 ton used truck and most of what I am seeing that isnt over $30k has over 100k miles. I know with diesels you dont have to be as worried about miles as you do with gas, but what would you be comfortable with?
Does it depend on cummins vs powerstroke vs duramax?
200,000 too much on a cummins?

I'd say no. But wouldn't spend $30k on it.
What year truck is it with 200k on it.

Depends on a few things, make, model. Also, deleted? Tuned? Previous owner someone's powpow or some dickhead kid. 100k isn't that big of a deal, about the only diesel I'd avoid would be the Ford 6.0.

My old man has a 2004, 200K+ miles I think now, I'd be prepared to do some front end work (ball joints and u-joints). Had an electrical issue in the steering column but he got that sorted out, otherwise his has been a good one, esp for a raggedy-arse Dodge. Iwould not buy if it's got a straight stack and a "rollin coal" sticker on the back glass.

I love Ford's but no way I would buy a 6.0 or a 6.4 in any condition. With them it would have to be a 7.3 or the 6.7
I would buy a dodge with the 5.9 cummins with over 200k if it were in good shape and for a decent price. I would also consider a duramax 6.6 from new, all the way back to the cat-eye model trucks anywhere under 200k for a good price.

Year and engine make all the difference.
I've seen 7.3 Fords with over a millions miles, and 6.0 Fords that needed rebuilt before 100,000.
My uncle paid 13,000 for a 2008 Cummins 3500 in 2014. It had 234,000 miles. But this was also a dealer auction, and he got lucky.
100k is nothing on most modern diesels though, ftr. Almost all of them will door 300,000 fairly easily with regular maintenance of the "normal" variety

Bought a 2004 dodge ram 2500 5.9L Diesel this past year with 152K on it a year ago. Love the truck. Was kept in great shape. Has a bully dog programmer and cold air intake w/ turbo exhause. I get 25 mpg on that hog. Love it, but I did have to change out the front wheel bearings recently, water pump. Be prepared for some extra expenses that you don't normally have with a truck under warranty.

Got the same truck from new. Got 177K on it now. I just had to replace the complete front end. Cost for that along with 4 new 10ply tires was $2500. She is good to go for another 100k+ now.
Oh, still getting 22 mpg if I drive 45 or 85.
I'm not a fan of installing a program in a diesel truck. Sure, a bit more power, but if the factory didn't build it to perform at those pressures, why short the life of the engine?

I'd be more concerned about the chassis, the rear end and the transmission than the engine.
200K is not a lot of miles for the engine. Heck 200K is not a lot of miles for a gas engine any more.

Yea the guy that had it before put all those modifications in it. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to go back to factory settings on any new truck I get from here on out. Spoiled to this now. Oh and I can get 18 mpg pulling a 32 foot trailer loaded with horses
