What made this mysterious "crop circle" in the elephant ears along the bayou?

Looking along the bayouside behind my house and I see an area of flattened elephant ears. What could have caused this?
A tree shaker?
Beings from outer space?
The mascovy ducks that have been trying to invade (thank you trusty Red Rider for preventing this)?
Something else???
