I have never fished this area, only Dularge, Cocodrie and Pac. Usually throw black and chartreuse or purple and chartreuse cocahoes or gold spoons. I have some black spoons, green hornet matrix shad, in-line spinners..etc. I hear there is a lot of grass so I'm assuming throw as much weedless as possible.

If you fish the morning you can catch them on pop r's, buzz baits, sizemic frogs...any top water bait really.

Redfish will blow up on a scum frog. You can catch them on a frog all day. And it's perfect for throwing on the grass beds.

Grass is starting to get thick. I would throw in weedless inline spinners preferably with darker color swim baits. Any spoons in 1/4 oz so you can keep it above the grass. Topwater baits along grass edges, or swim baits rigged weedless. Good luck. No need for shrimp

This is exactly what I threw last time in Delacroix and came back with plenty Bass, Specks, and Reds.

Edit: I agree with Lsuson that there is no need for shrimp. I tried live shrimp, but actually had better luck with the dark colored swim baits

Went in my kayak today and caught two reds on gold spoon, I went unprepared though. Everything needed to be weedless and I only had spoons and some flukes. Got in some clear pockets and the reds were stacked up pretty good, but didn't really want a gold spoon. Tried to throw some matrix shad and black and chartreuse cocahoes but there was just too much grass and I didn't have any weedless jig heads. First time fishing this area but I will be back, I probably saw close to 20 reds and some reds.

H&H The Secret weedless gold spoon FTW. It gathers a bit of grass but not so much that you want to change baits. I throw it all up in the grass and catch.

Little tip for some of you I don't mind helping out. That's what the OB's for. When you get pockets like that which are not big and hold fish, throwing a weighted weedless swim bait or a spoon will not produce much results. The bait will either get hung up or as you retrieve it's out of the strike zone too quickly Trust me I learned the stubborn way. I rig up four or five rods when I go and one is always rigged with a weedless hook that's weightless. I like flukes or pointed tail baits in this situation. If you pitch it in the hole the bait will slowly fall. Most hits will be on the fall. I'll slowly pop it with a very slow retrieve. If you reel too fast the bait will skim on top. Give it a try if you haven't already. Tight lines!

Try using an Owner Beast 4/0 hook with the twist lock. That's all I use when sight fishing in grass. You can get the weighted or unweighted.

Oh and I've also cut out a small slit from a cork and stuffed it inside a fluke and it was like fishing a suspended mirrodine and that's worked too
