I was told to get paid by a sponsor you must consistently finish in the top 5-10 of tournaments.

They do it for two reasons. One so they get their own name on the boat and the sponsoring company pays for it, and two they stand out from the other charter boats. Social media is pretty easy advertising these days. So you need a boat that people will remember seeing on instagram or facebook. Mexican Gulf is a perfect example.

JJ Tabor's new 42 Freeman has a HuK wrap. They crew was Given 8K to pick out HUK gear. (not sure what other incentives) Gets the motors and electronics at discounts as well just for sporting a small sticker and getting press via social media and winning tournies.
