I had been using the cheap All Star Rods from Academy. The 7 foot saltwater series, however I won a Billy Stix Spiral guide rod in a tournament about a year ago. It is pretty nice and I am sold on the spiral guide type rods. I picked up a Swampland rod from Bowie about 3 months ago. They are made in Houma. Great rods. All baitcasters, I only fish saltwater, the spiral guide rod helps with the wind.

carrot stix...lifetime warranty and one of the lightest rods i've used. Broke one 12" from the butt using a stanley ribbit, carried back to bass pro and no hassel at all for a new one. The guy in sporting goods did say they're getting a lot of broken carrot stixs returned and the company is working on a fix. Teamed up with a Revo reel it is the lightest rig I've used. Rip dem lips

I use Bass Pro IM7 tournament series. They've worked pretty well.

7 foot moderate action All-Star paired with a Shimano Curado.
Pops uses G-Loomis, I can't swing that $$ just yet.

I'm still at the point of determining my favorite.
I have 2 Falcon Cara's, 2 American Rodsmiths, 1 Allstar, 1 Castaway, and 1 Shimano. I like the Falcon's the best, but not sure if they're worth an extra $50 over the American Rodsmiths.
Plus I just snapped one of my Falcons on a red. I guess I'll determine how much I like it when I see how much they hassle me to return it.

I've been considering buying one of the Carrot Stix. I've checked them out and they feel great.

I like the berkley lightening rod. Medium to medium heavy. Usually in a 6'6".

Didnt Shakespeare buy out All Star and start manufacturing them in China?? They arent the same quality as they use to be and no longer have a replacement guarantee at Academy.

That sucks if its true. I've always liked the Allstar brand.

I bought one in June, broke it two weeks ago and Academy wouldnt exchange it. Time to go with GLoomis.

Falcon, Fenwick and a BPS Extreme

Shimano Crucial rod IMO one of the best all around rods. For inshore fishing/bass fishing I use a 6'10" MH action Xtra fast. I started using them to fish the lake about five years ago and that is all I use now. Before that I was using Amreican Rodsmiths.

Plueger combo i bought at Academy last year has worked awsome. landed some monster reds last year with it.
