I personally would ensure the bite wound was thoroughly cleaned or have the kid see a doctor as I've seen seemingly harmless bites turn into serious infections.
This and make sure the wounds are not stiched. They should be left open to drain naturally. Augmentin is a great antibiotic for this.
I was bitten by a dog about 23 years ago, went to the ER and the jackass sewed me up. Got a cellulitis which could have seriously effed up my arm.

i'm glad my dog bit that kid though, he is brat and it is all his dads fault for raising him that way, I feel that was an excellent learning experience for him..
I wish the dog would have bit the dad.

Whatever you do, please don't poison the dog. I watched my own dog die last Friday night from being poisoned. It was the most horrific thing I've personally ever witnessed. Two hours of the most demonic, unnatural, horrible seizures you could imagine.
Shoot the dog if you must. But please don't poison it

Any dog that bites children should be killed, and with a quickness. There's a lot of dogs out there, no reason to keep one that does shite like this.
I agree. Doesn't take much of a dog to do serious damage to a young child.

Make the owner have the dog checked out, let the owner know that if the dog is ever out running around on your property it's not going to make it back home, and keep a close eye on your son.

He is a friend from way back, at the time he was going through a tough time because he couldn't work because of a really bad motorcycle wreck,(he still can't work and got denied disability, don't ever get on a damn motorcycle), my family and everybody in the community did everything in their power to help him out. Turns out him and his wife spent all the money we collected for him on pistols,(fricking .22's at that), drugs and frivolous shite. Wife left him for their drug dealer when the money ran out, he actually tried to get his life back together, but he just has some of the worst judgement in the world.
But if my dog would've bit him he would've attempted to shoot it, then things would get bad really quick.. so I'm glad it didn't come to that.
On a side note, he almost got thrown in jail for keeping 11 brown trout of a local stream last Tuesday. He was just trying to feed his kids he said, I told him he could catch the two a day limit and still feed his brat kids.. he just shrugged his shoulders and acted like it wasn't a big deal. Some people never learn.. I've got stories for days about his run ins with the game wardens, he is basically public enenmy # 1 for them up here..

No. We assume ethylene glycol, but the cattleman who lives behind us could have poisoned a cow or calf carcass for coyotes as well. No telling what the stuff was that my dog got. It's my fault I didn't keep track of my dog, so I'm not that upset about what happened.
I'm more upset about the way he died. It was really horrific and I wouldn't wish it on any animal.

Agreed. Depends on what happened. If it is an aggressive dog that seeks out and attacks children, obviously it has to go.
If it bites an excited boy out of startled reaction because it doesn't play w/ kids often, I don't blame the dog, I blame the owner, the kid, and the kid's parents (if anyone).
Clearly if the dog tried to truly tear up the kid that's a different matter, but it doesn't sound like that in this case.
