Opa is the dutch term for grandpa. My grandparents lived in Holland before I was born so when they came home they turned into Oma and Opa.

The good ole days....

Shooting ducks until you had 2 croaker sacks full per man per day.

Hunting over bait and not knowing/worrying about green jeans

killing 50 teal in one morning during teal season before school started.

Pintails were 10 point ducks and you could kill 10 drakes legally in a day

No limit on trout and selling them to the local restraunts after you were done.

Redfish were trash fish... (still can't believe we thought that)

And my final one.... Living Cypress trees and a thriving marsh in Empire and Buras.

Probably up to 1990. Technology and explosive growth has changed society a great deal. I guess people who grew up after that period probably wouldn't miss it because they don't know about it.

Those born after 1990 will probably consider this decade we are in now to the "good ole days" in 20 years.

90's were awesome, my favorite decade as an adult but weren't the "good ole days" for me.

My mom remembers getting electricity. I'll be able to tell my grand kids the shocking story about them running cable to my neighborhood...

When I was a kid, one of my great grandmothers still lived in the original family homestead home that had no plumbing or electricity. Had a water well and a honey bucket. She also spit black. I hated visiting great grandmother.

I grew up on family land, (about a 150 acres all at my disposal), I had fourwheeler trails everywhere ,deer stands every 100 yrds and 2ponds full of catfish. I killed my first deer 200 yards from my house and prob shot at least 150 squirrels there too. My grandparents lived next door and had mulberry trees in their yard,me and paw paw would stay out there all day shooting the birds that were trying to eat them, we filled up a mop bucket of wax wings in one afternoon one time!
