Alxtgr and I were headed to an awesome disc golf destination, doing about 80mph when this white BMW passes by us in the left lane. It looks like the driver was inattentive, drifted into the other lane and then braked and steered left. Then . . .

Was this something mechanical or just some over-reaction and understeer? Something else?

Probably texting. Looked up. Saw truck. Slammed breaks. Anti lock

My mom drives an Audi A8. If you get to close to some one it will "help" you correct. It seems at first the car did that, but I have no idea if that BMW has the same feature.

Over-corrected. Hit brakes. Over-corrected again and hit left side rumble strips.

Just a shitty driver, tbh.

Its a Hyundai, and not the top of line Genesis which is probably the only one of that brand that may possibly have such features. I'm gonna go with slowly drifted while texting, looked up, saw trailer, reacted by correcting left, braked, and was going so fast ABS caused the wobble.

Looks like they were trying to slow down and make that turn in the middle.

A BMW would handle better than that.

Would have sworn it was a BMW. I though I saw the BMW badge on the front.

As to the dash cam, I bought a new-to-me (10K miles) truck last March. AT shift pattern was different from the previous truck (different stops and lateral motions). During the first month I was following a City truck with a long trailer that pulled into a street and then started backing. I didn't expect him to stop and got close and couldn't get it into reverse quickly enough to keep from being backed into. The other driver owned up though so it wasn't a problem.

About three months later, I got sideswiped by someone who suddenly decided to turn from a travel lane, across the turn lane that I was in. They fessed up too, but I decided to get a dash cam, 'cuz they're cheap. In October, this happened:

The lady driving the van claimed that I rear-ended her twice and then chased her. When I showed the cops the video, she got a free ride for a hit and run. So it's paid for itself. Also, I occasionally get the car above or a bonus crash on tape like so:

LINK

ETF grammar.
