Used to fly with a double case and pay the fees for oversized luggage. They are outrageous now, $200 each way for anything over 63" in L+W+H. I don't want to be stuck with that kind of bill.

Longest part of gun is 35 3/16". Pelican has a couple that would be below 63" overall but the barrel would be from end to end on the inside with no cushion.

Any recommendations?

Just drive and you can bring all the guns you want to wherever you’re heading. That’s what I do cuz I hate flying

Get a pelican take the foam out and stick each end of a barrel inside your boots. Lay clothes and jackets in the inside to fill it up so the gun don’t bounce around as well at allow you more clothing carried in less baggage.

I’ve flown with DL, SW, and AA in the past year with the big pelican rifle case and never been charged anything more than a regular bag.

Same. I fly AA to Sioux Falls, SD each year with the big pelican and no added fees.

Get a smaller Pelican and remove the barrel, placing it beside the rest of the shotgun. Makes for a much shorter case.

I’ve taken a Pelican 1720 to Africa twice with no issues. Essentially a 2 gun take down case (41”)

I understand that they may not measure the case, but it's $200 each way if they decide to. That's not worth it to me. Looking for something that falls within their guidelines for non-oversized luggage.

Internet says no from what I've seen. They are not very sturdy.

Pelican for o/u's but you could use a factory beretta or benelli case for semis.

It's for hunting. That's my only case.

I don't own one yet so I'm not vouching for them but there is a company called Condition 1 that is like pelican but made in the USA (Texas I think) and some models come with precut foam. I've seen them discussed on some gun forums. I keep meaning to order one to try it out.
