I've been to West Cove and PAC. I live in the Lafayette area and that's about as far west and east I want to go. Are there any other areas I should try? Cypremort Point? Cocodrie? East side of Big Lake?

At the rate it's going you may be able to bass fish at the rocks in the cove, but yea pull up to the state park, put in and paddle across the canal to the rocks. Hopefully salinity goes up soon after we get a few fronts.

I've done decent at Choupique Bayou, that's on the way to West Cove. LKFC built a launch there, there's a $2 honor box launch fee.

You can launch at Coco Marina in Cocodrie, I've only fished there for a couple tournaments though.

I might try Choupique since West Cove will be closing soon.

Why? Are we talking that whole west cove area or just the restricted marsh area on the right when you launch?

Just the refuge on the south side of west cove canal. For waterfowl purposes I guess. I know you can hunt that unit.

I wonder what's the deal with hunting West Cove Marsh? Can I throw some grass on my kayak and paddle back there and be good to go or is hunting totally off limits there?

The south side of the canal is Sabine NWR Unit A. I usually hunt west side of 27. Haven't heard of much success in Unit A

The setup at GI on the back of the island is great. Used it twice this summer. Didn't catch much but I think that had more to do with my first time fishing back there. Great yak setup.

Eddie's at PAC was really cool. I was able to back my truck straight to the kayak launch.

When you get to the end of the road in PAC right before you go straight into the marina you turn right on PawPaw Circle(I think it's called). Follow that down and you run into it, it's across the canal from the marina. You can back your truck up to the launch area and unload, he sells ice, tackle, bait, etc. Really is the best kayak launch I've ever been to.

I think it's actually Paw Paw Court. Went last weekend and caught 5 Rat Reds, 1 small trout and 2 flounder. Had fun though.

How is PAC in late fall? I have an opportunity to go there the weekend after Thanksgiving and I've never fished there before.
