Merrells- the quick tie ones - even work great wet

Keenan
I hike out here in Utah all the time. Anything narrow at the toes kills me on downhill.
Keens are great traction going up and comfortable getting back down a mountain.
Hunting boots: I love my Tanner Pronghorns
And I really like this pair of lightweight UnderArmor bought a I found on sale
my $.02

Don't really have any straight up hiking boots, but when I'm doing a lot of walking while hunting I wear Under Armour Speed Freeks.

Vasque St. Elias GTX
They have Gore-Tex so they stay dry and are very comfortable. They are also some of the best looking boots I've ever seen.

I pretty much just go with trail runners or trail shoes (merrell, new balance, etc..) unless I'm backpacking or doing some crazy terrain in which case I wear my Merrell Wilderness.
I'm insanely hard on shoes for some reason (maybe my size 13 foot, but I broke down a pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers to need total resoles in q little over a year). Any molded sole boot tends to come apart and delaminates on me. My Merrell Wilderness just keep trucking.

Asolo are awesome. I have two pair depending on if I'm going to be hiking in the wet or not.
For wet hikes:
All leather
For dry hikes:
Mesh top
They're pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

I have wide feet, and foot that's susceptible to ingrown toe nails. I like the Keens, they fit fantastic.

I wear Lowa Renegades. Have owned Keens. Both are great. Sometimes I wear La Sportiva approach shoes.
Lots of good options, just depends on your feet. Asolo and Merrell make quality stuff they just don't fit me.

Whatever fits your foot. They're all good if they fit.

Okay so I have this narrowed down to the Salomon Hiking Boots below. They are the same boot, but I am wondering which color to get. Thoughts?

Logging boots. Mine have several thousand miles on them

I have done a ton of trails in nothing but new balances (from their most expensive to their cheapest model). Actually just finished a short jaunt in negro bill canyon, which involves sand, slickrock, stream crossing, and slight scrambling.
Honestly, I like tennis/running shoes because that's what I am familiar with while doing anything athletic. I will probably purchase something a little more rugged before we head up to Alaska, though
