While fishing today, I hooked something on the bottom. As I start to reel it in, I see a fishing pole start to emerge. After a quick fight, I landed a Penn battle II. I proceeded to cast the pole with the sparkle beetle it had on it and caught a fish. Rod and reel seem fine after a wash. I have hooked on some different crap, but never a rod and reel in almost perfect condition.
Anyone ever catch any interesting artifacts while fishing?

And we also caught/ tore off the arm of an octopus (I think) while snapper fishing

Not artifacts, but I've caught two enormous sea turtles. Powerful mofos.

Bout ten years ago fishin out of Cocodrie pulled in my anchor and it was snagged on something.

Finally got it coming to, and in, and it had snagged a REALLY fricking old anchor.

We said it was an old anchor of Jean Lafites

It was sand cast iron

We hung it under the camp till some fricker stole it....

Fishing Fausee Point. It was 105 and we only caught 1 fish all day. I caught a catfish on a top water popper. I've never seen that before

My dad and some friends were fishing she'll beach and a guy lost a rod and reel. The next week they were fishing the same spot and caught a completely different rig. About 30 min later they ended up pulling in the one from the week before

Not too surprising, but caught a 4 foot gator on a frog.

More surprising, 18 inch flounder on a spook. Can't catch those bastards when I'm trying to.

Fishing with the family when my Mom (who was fishing with a double shad rig) had caught something that preceded to pop her line.
A few minutes later my Dad was reeling a fish in when he realized his hook had actually hooked the extra hook on my Mom's shad rig.

I have caught multiple pelicans.

In a boat not to much trouble but the first time I got one I was surf fishing. We were smoking the trout with gulls also diving and working a huge school of shrimp.

Well the this fricking pelican decides to swoop in under my cast and got the braided line all wrapped around his wing.

Let me tell you what. That dude was pissed. It was quite the show trying to get him off in waist deep water so we could get back on the fish. I never noticed before but them sum bitches have a big arse hook at the end of their beaks and they will try to bite the shite out of you.

There was a guy on the bank that about killed over he was laughing so hard at us trying to get him off.
