What is it and how do I kill it? It won't go away. Spotty across the yard.

Looks like bluegrass to me, but hard to tell.

Yes, poa annua. It will die out with the heat and use a preemergent herbicide next fall to prevent it next year.

Sativa. Looks like a pretty powerful strain. I would start by pruning burning it but be sure not to inhale.

Correct. Poa Annua

Commonly called Po Anna. Or, Kentucky Bluegrass.

It emerges usually in Dec or Jan, depending on how far south you are. You can kill it before your St Aug greens up in the spring.

No help with name but I have it too. About 10 different clumps in my front yard. I sprayed a few with roundup to see what will happen.

Round up will kill it, as will the heat- as someone said. Roundup will kill your other grass too, depending on what kind and rate used.

Don't bother with it now...It should be wilting away any day now as temps climb. Apply Simazine around Thanksgiving and you won't see it next year.
